Thanks for the link (I see it too, btw); when playing on virtue earlier I heard the CoH lore bible had been leaked. Gonna' be a good read.

You can also download all of that as a single zip file, full of all the PDFs for easy/mobile reading and saving. Just click File in the upper left-hand corner, then Download. If you don't have a PDF reader, Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader are good choices (Foxit is tiny and fast).

Email it to yourself, save it to your own Google or portable drive, but save it for the future. You might think you won't appreciate these documents as much years from now, but that's an awfully grand assumption you're making about your future self, and the future of the game.

What now? I was unaware of these documents. What are they?

Are they related to the Lore AMA? Or something that was posted separately?

It's separate. Part of it leaked out many years ago to just a couple people, and the other files leaked out more recently, IIRC.

It's basically the developer's lore documents from ~2004, including all the original background for most of the original groups (Rularuu, Malta, CoT, Nemesis, etc), including things never before revealed, or things that came out many years later (such as the weapon used against Rularuu in his invasion, we learned about in DA). It doesn't include any recent additions/changes to the lore (there's nothing about Oz), but it's quite a good read. I actually have the 5th Column section of the bible open right now

What Golden Girl said.

If you read through the documents you can see that some/most of them came from the Eden Publishing pen and paper RPG project that was abandoned.

Think of it as a snapshot of the "story bible". Much has changed in eight years and much more has been added since then.

Still, there is a ton of background information in those documents that you can't get inside the game, as well insights into how the developers saw the various factions of the game.

In particular, the various commentaries about how much the villain groups know about each other and their attitudes towards each other give us some insight into why that whole Reichsman Evil League of Evil thing happened. Somebody read those things and took the ideas a bit too literally. (In my opinion, your mileage may vary.)

I'll say this - The writeup of Nemesis makes him sound more reasonable than the actual implementation made him out to be. But then, that just leads to my biggest grinding axe about the way that basic history was treated as top secret information.

Anyway - This is the foundation that the game was built upon, but the current day story bible would presumably be about double the size of this.

Got it working again thanks . You can definitely see where a lot of things were changed over the years seems kinda silly that so much of it wasn't released as it seems like mostly basic background info.
