Forty new citizens of Paragon every semester!
This is beautiful. Absolutely amazing. I can't even form words to describe how awesome this is.

Now that you mention it...yes, they're all paying attention to what they--and only they--are doing. Eyes forward, no Facebook or Twitter or whatever else the kids do these days. No one on a mobile phone. In today's American postsecondary education system, that's a gosh-darn miracle in and of itself.
Ha, that is glorious. I love how there's not a single one of them who looks bored - everyone is staring at their own screen.

Now, I'm going to go get a new onion for my belt.

and here I thought using my main to collect 3D coordinates in Kings Row to use in a mapping and surveying lab was cool.
Impressive sir.

I'm sorry that your crew was stupid enough to fire on a station filled with a quarter million civilians, including your own people. And I'm sorry I waited as long as I did before I blew them all straight to hell. ~Sheridan, The Fall of Night
If only I could do that where I work, too much safeguarding red tape.
What are they doing in the game though aside from playing COH?
Frankie says it best.
If your group needs to rest its feet in a bar setting, I had The Hacienda nightclub from Manchester rebuilt on Pinnacle server, heroside. Would be glad to help you if you'd like to visit. My global is @Neuronia.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

This is what they're told they need to talk about in the paper, after playing for two days (and they know this up-front):

Critique City of Heroes itself regarding ease of use, the options available for virtual representation, and avatar creation.
Discuss your interactions within the environment, making sure to note the types of interaction that occurred and any other information you deem relevant. Do not simply provide me with a play-by-play analysis of your activities.
So I'm asking them their reactions to the character creation process (we've discussed different theories of online presentation in terms of identity), and then I'm asking them to talk about their interaction with the game (i.e. how easy/hard was it to navigate the world) and with the other people in the game.
The class has been around for years, but I just took it over this semester, so this is my first time doing this. I'm sure I'll tweak it based on the feedback I get, but I'm just hoping there's still a CoH to send next semester's classes into. There's no other game I'd feel comfortable sending a bunch of largely clueness newbs into. Can you image the treatment they'd receive if I sent them to WoW? *shudder*

I hope all his students are 21 and over or at least can handle their liquor.
