Ninjitsu Control

See title. Something 'natural' to pair with upcoming Martial Assault. I foresee lots of lethal/toxic stuff. Sticky bombs for immobilization, poison darts for hold, maybe a poison gas bomb for the AoE hold. Ninja for a pet. Maybe like a smoke bomb/smoke flash style power. A confuse or a sleep in there somewhere. Maybe a stealth power, something between Shadow Fall/steamy mist/cloaking device and Invisibility in terms of stealthiness (That is, a lil stronger than the former, but maybe not as strong as the latter?)

I'd imagine this to use bolas for the single target immobilise, a blow dart for the single target hold, a choking cloud for the AoE hold, flash bomb as a confuse, a sand cloud for a stun (like Martial Combat), maybe some sort of Placate power, and possibly a trap of some sort. I'd do something a bit different for the pet - it would be a toggle aura that summons Shadow Simulacrum type things based on your character for each enemy in the aura up to a maximum of three or four. They'd have minion HP and damage, use only Storm Kick and Shuriken Throw, and only last a few seconds. The idea behind this is that they are the character attacking rather than a summon. After all, the Conservation of Ninjutsu dictates that a Ninja is only successful when alone. This is one thing that the Ninja Summoning set gets correct

I totally agree. I have wondered why this and a ninjutsu Assault Set was never made for Dominators.

Hmmm... Lemme try to draft something up.

(1) Sleep dart - ranged ST Sleep, lethal/toxic damage. (if possible, make it do the toxic damage can tick over time without waking a foe up)
(1) Paralytic Dart - Ranged ST Hold, lethal/toxic damage
(2) Slit throat - Melee, ST, Lethal/Special damage, Special Damage (Deals Extreme damage against held/sleeping/stunned targets moderate damage otherwise. This will probably be a BIG and important thing for the powerset)
(6) Knockout Gas Bomb - ranged Targetted AoE, Sleep
(8) Hallucinogens - Ranged Cone foe: Confuse -ToHit
(12) Smoke Bomb - PBAoE Self and Ally: Stealth, Foe: Placate
(18) Noxious gas trap - ranged Location AoE, Foe: Hold, -tohit, -perception (summons a pet to explode when enemies get neat like poison trap)
(26) ???
(32) Summon Kunoichi - Summons Kunoichi pet with Ki Push, Storm Kick, Shuriken, Quick Strike, and Phalanx Fighting.

That's all I got.

Martial Assault is pretty ninjitsu flavored, and what prompted this, as people said that Dominator's don't really have an 'ideal' concept power to go with it.

Actually after thinking about it for 5 seconds, the most 'likely' pet that jumped to mind was a Fu Dog. XD

I didn't know they had made these for i24, cool:

These powersets were announced in the TwitchTV broadcast. They will be in I24 and are free for VIPs:

Martial Combat (blaster secondary)
•Chi Push (repel followed by knockback (cool new animation)
•Storm Kick (melee)
•Dragon Kick (melee)
•Dragon's Tail (PBAoE melee)
•Burst of Speed (AoE self TP)
•Reach for the Limit (Build up auto power—Chance for +dam and +ToHit on every power)
•Reaction Time (toggle—+absorb over time, +revocery, -move on enemy; 10 seconds of +speed on toggle off)
•Inner Will (self heal and ,ez break—only unsable under 50% end or health or when mezzed)
•Throw Sand (cone foe stun)

Martial Assault (secondary for Dominators)
•Shuriken Throw (has a new animation)
•Thunder Kick (melee—MA port)
•Trick Shot (chain power—shuriken bounces between targets)
•Spin Kick (front facing cone like the incarnate power without the teleport)
•Envenomed Blades (build up power; adds toxic damage to all attacks for a time)
•Dragon's Tail (PBAoE melee)
•Caltrops
•Masterful Throw (snipe; chance for DoT damage)
•Explosive shuriken (single target with chance for splash DoT)

Yup! That was the inspiration for this suggestion.

I feel like it should have a Phantom Army type summon of just basic ninjas.

How about the "pet" is a toggle that has a chance of firing off a proc that does three things:

1) Repeat the power you just used with its damage, mez magnitude and buff/debuff values reduced by a third.
2) Create an FX tied to the same proc which creates an after-image of you using the power (similar to the Dual Pistol's after-images).
3) Give a decent positional defence buff to compensate for the lack of an actual pet distraction.

Making the pet something like a ninja or an Oni is more restrictive on concepts than having a dog for a Dark Control pet, so the after-image thing could fit anything from ninjas or Batman-type characters to super-speeders and time manipulators. Making the toggle give a defence buff compensates for the other thing that a pet does - be a distraction - whilst also fitting in the concept of an agile fighter. If it's too much work (which it probably would be) then rather than create an FX it could be a translucent, shadowy, phased, immobile and untargetable pet that is summoned on your character's position that can only use the attack that you just used before being unsummoned.

I love the idea you have here. I've always had trouble with powersets making creative choices in this game. In a set like this where we want to look Natural and want to embrace a lot of different possible creative themes this has a lot of potential.

Kinda think Caltrops would've been more useful to a powerset like this instead of Martial Assault.

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

I don't see the Melee attack working here. Conceptually I like it but this is a control set.

I'd move the Sleep dart to the tier 3 slot and put an immobilize power in the tier 1.

I'd still want a pet at T9, but agree it would be one of the sets most likely to -lack- a pet.

There's a -lot- of ways it could go though, the set as a whole I mean.
