It looks like he's ... moving on up to that de-luxe apartment in the sky? Eh? EH?

Oh, like you weren't thinking it too.

Seriously though, I LOVED The Jeffersons. Funny and ground-breaking. And of course, an awesome theme song. I raise my glass to you, Sherman Hemsley!

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta tryin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're up in the big leagues,
Gettin' our turn at bat.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.

Well we're movin on up,
To the east side.
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin on up,
To the east side.
We finally got a piece of the pie.

Enjoy the pie Sherman. You earned it man.

I am going to fondly miss how George Jefferson loving called many people "honky" as often as possible.

The thing that has begun to strike me as weird about these celebrity deaths is, when I was a kid watching these sitcoms, all of these actors were oooold. Now I look back and though I still think of the characters as older than me, I realize that when The Jeffersons first aired, Sherman Hemsley was eight years younger than I am now!

It was his show and others like it that came out in the late 70's early 80's, is one of the main reasons why I think I am not racist. To which I say:

Thank you sir for helping me not be an idiot.
