What do you think of Water Blast?

The Fire chain takes 7.524s, the Water chain takes 8.976s. And it's also worth mentioning that Steam Spray has a significantly larger area than Fire Breath.

They're pretty close in terms of AoE power before even counting Geyser at all. Once you add in a full extra spawn wiped out every ~60s, Water is quite clearly ahead. i24 will narrow this gap considerably, of course, when Inferno no longer crashes (and, unrelatedly, when the value of Dehydrate's self-heal is diluted by Sustain powers), but for now, in my direct in-game experience, Water has even better AoE damage than Fire does.
Aim and build up are your friends.

Edit: Realized it wasn't clear from my first post but agree water will be ahead in I24

...yes, and enhancements and inspirations and team buffs and...

Water has access to all the same Build Up powers that Fire Blast does, and the difference between Aim's and Tidal Forces' damage buff is not nearly large enough to make up for Geyser.

For the third time, I am speaking from experience. My Water blaster has better AoE than my Fire blaster.

I don't agree that Water will be ahead in i24. Water stands to gain the least of any Blast set in i24. Geyser's advantage will be way smaller compared to other nukes, Dehydrate will be way less valuable, and Water's single-target damage will fall significantly behind compared to other sets. If you think it's not ahead now, you DEFINITELY won't think it's ahead come i24.

Really? I think water burst is amazing. The amount of damage mitigation I get out of it is significant, and the damage is only slightly less than fire ball if you're at combo level 3.

For me the stinker is hydro blast (the tier 2).

I probably won't play water blast because:

A.) I don't want to pay for it, and I spend all my monthly points on super packs

B.) I dislike the entire mechanic of building "stacks" and am annoyed at the dev's apparent desire to build powersets around it.

You should try it on BETA man. The "stacks" are nothing more than a self driven build up that is "NOT" like DB where you have to pick a certain power. It basically adds build up power to a large number of your powers that you use normally. IDK, I would "seriously" consider at least trying it because based on B, I don't think you quite understand how it works.

I think he understands it, and I can understand the complaint. They've really been pushing the stack level thing.

But I understand not liking the "idea" of it just fine so did I lol. However, to dismiss without a free BETA try when others are for the most part saying hey its really fun and good is...well I just am a at least try it type of person. Not everyone is and I need to be ok with that. No worries.

To me, calling all enhanced mode based mechanics "pushing stack level things" is like calling all buffs, debuffs, procs, and expression effects in damaging attacks "pushing secondary effect things." This set has knockback, that set has tohit buff, the other set has drain - why can't they make a set that just does one single tick of damage and nothing else?

The serious answer is that we have sets without enhanced mechanics. Now that the enhanced mechanics are available, the devs will use them whereas before they could not. New sets will do things the old sets did not. The devs are not going to replicate the mechanics, or the lack of mechanics, of older sets. That should be obvious.

Don't get me wrong (and you probably didn't...but hey...never know), I freakin love water blast. Only posted what I did cuz I'd read through a couple of other threads regarding water blast and i kept reading over and over how it stacked up to Fire and that it didn't perform as well (read: do the gobs and gobs of god-awful of end of the world as we know it damage...blah blah blah.......haterz) as if everything MUST be Fire or its garbage.

Didn't know that geyser was also gonna get adjusted with the upcoming nuke changes...so i'm assuming that they're all gonna get pretty much "normalized"...more or less. Hmm...that mean that Geyser damage is gonna go up or down...cuz that thing is just WOOOOO. I've done some room clearing with that bad boy. So...yeah. Kinda lookin forward to that...as well as the adjustment to the 40' blasts getting bumped to 80'....water jet at that distance? Yes please.

I actually kinda went with /ice on my blaster in anticipation for the i24 changes and the +absorb coming to chilling embrace. Now that i know that geyser too will also be getting adjusted (i knew the crash nukes were getting treated...didn't know that the already crashless ones were too)...........i freakin hate you, man. Now i gotta wait for THAT too! GEEZ!

Jerk!

I made a Praetorian Water/Time Corruptor, and my friend made a Water/Electric Blaster. Both of us like the set, especially how it looks. Stacking whirlpools is a blast, especially when they start scourging.

Dehydrate is one of my favorite powers in the game now. It is incredibly fluid looking, the hand movements for it are just better than you normally see in this game. The power itself is good too, good damage and a heal over time meshes well with Time's heal. Basically gives me a constant regen.

Water/Time means that they enemy really can't run away. 25 currently, I do see Steam Jet being a problem, as currently I stay in the center of the crowd.

That's not a bad idea. I forgot you could "buy" sets for free on Beta. I'll at least give it a shot.

Water blast is a barrel of (sea)monkeys. I've got my WB/Dark Blaster to 33 and he just hums. If I didn't have so many other Alts and friends on different servers, he'd be 50 already. I've actually debated using my hoarded server transfers to jump him around to play with my friends, but that struck me as frivalous. But he's so much fun to play that I haven't completely ruled that idea out.
