I wouldn't mind getting those boots in your art piece for player characters. >.> <.<

We need a good set of boots that are solid but not bulky, and aren't either a) too fancy (i.e., Celestial), or b) too dressed-down (i.e., Overguard).

Maybe the chest/belt design too, with the haphazard pouches (asymmetry!)

Well, as long as they don't turn Malta into ULTRA CYBER NINJA SOLDIERS GO! then everything will be okay.

Though, I wouldn't mind this as a costume set. Especially with a P90

I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...

Not to pick on Azure, but he(?) hit two points that work for me:

Agree 100%, and lets hope that they all don't start packing more Sapper rifles!

And I think that's exactly the direction that Malta should go! Not just borrowing technology and costumes from DUST, TEST and IDF, but actively recruiting former members of those organizations after the war to expand the Malta Mission to both worlds, coming up with a combined look in the process.

I'd be for that. I 100% agree with 'NO CYBER NINJAS!' That worked wonders for Mass Effect 3, after all Ohwaitnoitdidn't...

I think DUST and co are, if anything, a bit too heavy-duty of a look for Malta. Malta strike me as a fast moving force, with the exception of Titans, so likely would have cut-down weapons and slick kit. Again, just my opinion.

Can't cut you any slack or you won't get mad and try harder

That's the best cure for block, then you come back with vengeance better than when you first come out. I certainly feel it helps, at least. I've got a few pages of mock-ups for school uniforms I have sitting in my sketch book but with no one to criticize (and since I put my foot through my scanner), my enthusiasm kinda just floats around instead of going anywhere.

Actually, one thing I was always curious about is why Malta is strictly the paramilitary operation. Their whole backstory that we find out and piece together is about using supers as weapons for the good of the country, whether it's recruiting them via coercion or other nastier means. Yet the group you fight is strictly normal humans with fancy gear. I mean honestly when you hear about it, it sounds a lot like the set up from Heroes, with a Super and a Handler. But again, supers are completely absent from the in-game roster.

When I'm setting up a semi-military/paramilitary/mercenary/soldier sort of look, I end up just using regular boots with the "Combat boots" option. *shrug*

And given the Stealth belt and things like the Olympian (?) chest, not to mention the barbarian (male) straps, i'm kind of surprised they didn't add something like that by now.

You want them to look threatening? To anyone? Even super-powered, Incarnate-level heroes?

Piece o' cake. Make 'em look like this.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Well, I didn't know Chuck was into bear pr0n?

OT, cool drawing TA, didn't know you could draw like that.

Yes, it does. That's the whole point - they're the people no-one ever suspects. They look like soldiers, they act like soldiers, yet they're able to take down the biggest of the supers. The game gains nothing at all by removing what is essentially the only faction that's like that and giving them power armour. Just because they're old doesn't mean they're ugly. They aren't even all that low-res from the distances I typically see them at. To me, having them be overtly futuristic takes away from their core concept of being a contemporary conspiracy. The last thing we want is for Malta to go the way of Crey where they stop being clandestine and just turn into yet another paramilitary organisation with super technology. These guys are commandos first and foremost, and they ought to look the part.

There is more than enough room for the Grey Fox super soldier in other enemy groups. Again, look at Crey. Hell, look at Arachnos. Even the larger Council troops pretty much look weird and techy. Malta have a distinct look, and I'd really, REALLY hate to have the same thing happen to them as happened with the Circle of Thorns. Newer is not necessarily better.

---

I do agree that it makes no sense for them to camp out in the streets with their giant robots. It would make sense for people's first encounter with these guys to be when Indigo sends them on a mission and... Wait, who's that? You know, as opposed to just being one more faction you see all over the place before you even get a story to do with them. At least the Knives don't spawn anywhere. Unlike practically any other organisation, Malta's thing is they don't want people to know that Malta even exists. Sure, the Council has infiltrator agents out in the open, in much the same way as the US has B2 bombers on the news, but you don't have a chase plane following them out on a mission. People know the Council exists and that they have spec ops teams, they just don't know where these teams might strike. For Malta, no-one (including Roy Cooling) is supposed to know they exist.
