NPC pick-ups
Trying not to turn this into a rant, but NPCs you pick up during a mission need to move faster, especially at higher levels.
I hate the Dream Doctor arc specifically for this reason. Even when I turn off Sprint and move as slow as I possibly can, I continually lose Dream Doc and company. It's the primary reason the arc takes so painfully long for me. I would expect it to be the opposite - that I would struggle to keep up with the mighty Dream Doctor. At the very least, I would think the guy and his pals could learn to read a map and catch up with me. Bonus points if (assuming slots are open) you could right click on one of them and invite them to the team, so at least you could TP them. That would also help with monitoring their hit points, since they seem to stink at managing that, too. As it is, it feels more like babysitting, which feels neither epic nor heroic. |
They need to obey pet A.I., bad as it may be for MMs, because at least then they would keep up and eventually track you, rather than you having to play babysit for the brainless munchkins all the damn time.
This is the #1 reason why Escort missions suck.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Considering that most of those NPC's are supposed to be normal people it makes RP sense that they can't run as fat as a super hero/villain. We are playing Meta Humans. We are vastly stronger, and faster than the average human so of course we can easily outdistance them.
And before anyone complains about not wanting RP in the game, this is an MMORPG. If you are gonna play an RPG your going to encounter RP in the game mechanics.

Pick them up and carry them
Give them a piggy back
Have a minion carry them over their shoulder
Drag them along in a force bubble
Teleport them with me
Turn them invisible and make them fly with me
Encase them in ice and use them as a weapon
Argument? Invalid.
It's shoddy NPC mechanics, just like it's always been, and it sucks. End of.

Pretty much the only one of the DA arc NPCs who's been able to keep up with me reliably was Scirocco.
I don't even bother with trying to keep the other lollygagers with me anymore.
Scirocco's also by far the most useful of the bunch.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
