I want to play (and like) Electric Armor
I broke down and made a Staff/Electric brute.
I admit I was somewhat suspicious Staff/Electric would be a superior combination over Dark/Electric. Instead I think it is going to end up about equivalent with clear differences.
OMG, if I don't care about burning endurance I can activate Hasten, use Form of the Mind, and let Lightning Reflexes provide that last bit of recharge boost and go on a complete tear of dishing out damage! Double stacking Guarded Spin is trivial and I am thinking triple stacked Guarded Spin is not out of the question. Defense cap in one power if you double slot for Defense or if you single stot for defense and run Weave. AND THAT IS ON A RESIST SET. Admittedly you have no DDR, but then you've got solid resistances for such situations and can be churning waves of damage. Heck, I should have named the character Cuisinart.
Of course Power Sink awaits at level 35 as the solution to providing ongoing fuel to the utterly out of control damage engine that is attempting to empty your gas tank.
Of course that is the view from level 26. I will have to see if this all holds up to expectations.
Under construction
I can confirm, Staff/Elec is a beast. I played both my incarnated Brutes yesterday to compare them (Claws/Elec and Staff/Elec) and I really have to say on anything/x8 Staff is great, not the best Single Target DPs of course, but AoE wise it's nice.
I am no build guru, both are softcapped to s/l (around 46%, I bet someone can squeeze out more) and they have both Superior Conditioning and PP (+ Stamina) slotted with Performance Shifter proc. I must admit I rarely use Power Sink. Though it happens that none of them proc so maybe every 10 groups of mobs I use it.
The number crunchers might tell if spamming Spin is still better AoE dmg than spamming the AoE and 2 Cones of Staff. I do use Eviscerate from time to time.... and Shockwave might be wortwhile with the new IO sets that change KB to KD. Of course Claws is better Single Target DPS though.
Sooo... what I tried to say is, that both are much fun and I am not sure which I like more.

Here is the build for my Staff/Ela Incarnate. It is an expensive build, with a bunch of purple sets and PvPIOs, but I find it to be worth it, as this toon is an absolute monster.
Highlights:
45% S/L Def before GS
60% S/L Resist, 50% Cold/Fire Resist
Perma-Hasten
250% Regen
Please feel free to provide observations, suggestions, critiques, etc.

I'm loving the look of your build Xyzor. *I'm really enjoying staff/ela so far (lvl 22) on my Atlantean, Aquashock, on Freedom.
I am gonna go Mu Mastery for electric fences and ball lightning for more AoE goodness. *Can i ask, if you were gonna go the same route, how would you amend your build, assuming aquisition of purples is not an issue (as it does not seem to be judging from your build!)?
This build will be even more impressive once the new set bonuses drop.
I've said this elsewhere, but come the next issue /Elec will be really powerful. Screw defense soft cap, you can hit resist cap to S/L and, of course, Energy. Plus I was seeing ~75 to F/C. Adds the staff 7.5% resist bonus and F/C is in the 80s! What Fire/Cold hole?
This is on a build with 30ish defense to S/L, perma-Hasten (and Energize), with unlimited endurance, drain resistance, and a damage aura. Crazy stuff.

Indeed.
If the crap from beta goes live anywhere near as is we might finally get that 85% resistance cap lashing that certain people have been saying brutes need for years (the one that was actually put in when the fury changes were made, but never saw live).
And I wouldn't blame them.
edit: Ah, haven't touched the beta server since Tuesday's patch to it. They did tone the resist bonuses down significantly. You might want to recheck your numbers, Moonlighter.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
This is just my subjective feeling, but Electric Armor (for me) was the most effective armor to run in the iTrials. I mean, my electric brute could solo crates in the Lamda at +1! (yay!)
Just a good combination of energy and psionic resistance along with endurance and health recovery options. I'm pretty sure I ran some flavor of the other armors and they all got chewed up by psionic damage (So MUCH psionic damage!), endurance drain, lack of mobility, or lack of a heal.
The other armors all picked up around +2 and it might have been an issue with my builds or something, but Electric Armor just seemed to do really well for me in the iTrials.

My Claws/Electric Brute, Talsor Tech, is by far the sturdiest character I've ever rolled!
Was so fun levelling him up, he's the first I've bothered to Incarnate. Soloing DA with him all the way to Lore unlock was much fun!
Once you get rolling, you won't even notice the tiny dings to your health bar. On the rare occasion you start to get overwhelmed, Energize is always up! If all else fails, Surge ftw!
Was easy sailing up to about level 40 for me, then I did start to need just a bit more protection though, so I ended up respeccing into Tough/Weave/Stealth for the Defense.
Now, with I-buffs et al... Yeah Electric Armor rocks!
Fear not the resistance set Hero.
