Missing

Saw this on another forum and thought it'd be something cool to have here; a thread to post the names of players we miss in game.

I'll start.

I miss:
Thirsty (who became my best friend irl)
SWA (the Dutchy and all-around bad-a tank)
Badge (never saw anyone die so much or have so much fun doing it! Monster Mashup!)
Ish (the purple menace and Hami Cuddler)
Ice9 (he likes to pee in your cereal!)

Who are you missing, Protector?

I miss them too. Though every now and then, Badge does pop back in.

Quite simply, one of the most unique people I've ever met. He was arrogant, obnoxious, and a real *****, but I was really fond of him for all that. He told the most amazing stories. I think I spent more time mad at him then not... but I miss him still.

I miss my friends Zemuron and Ruby - who keep PROMISING me they're goin to come back, but....

I miss Feyh'd! He hasn't been gone that long, but still, I miss him!

Oh... there's more... but I'll stop there for now.

Sokyoku and Sirena Woodson, they were both SFS regulars back in the days when Gothess was running the event and they both seemed to drop off the face of the earth.

Also Lou'kaish, my girlfriend who's sitting 3 feet away playing WoW, the jerk.

Badge - I was soooooo nerverous the first time that I ever teamed with him.

VirginaBelle - oh those fish puns made Hami Raids so much fun.

Aerones - You do NOT want to get the both of us going in Jello Shooters.

Rebirth & Chibbi - when I got accepted to a Task Force run by them, I knew that I had been accepted. Yes I know it is kind of stupid, but I it was like being able to sit with "the cool kids" at the lunch table.

Armorshot - could always count on a laugh from him in JS.

LibertyBell - I just miss the Lord Grump avatar from the forums.

MysteryHunter - she(?) would always recruit my little Ny to a team in the Hollows. Great player could run missions, fight and recruit all at the same time.

Xander. & Nightblade Guardian - was always fun to see them in game.

Warface - miss the big guy.

Lohr - she was so happy to meet a forum celeberity.

Dirtwolf - was glad that she took the mantle to run a few Hami Raids.

Vorac - (though not gone, just isn't around as much) I miss the "Mama Special" from those all Corruptor team runs.

Other things I miss from this game.

Common Sense: The greatest gift the devs gave us was the ability to lose was our common sense. I miss this the most. I wish there was a lost and found for my Common Sense.

Selflessness: People used to help anyone out. And the beggers. Oh man! I miss all those people begging for stuff. And the selfless people that would help them out.

Sanity: I miss this. Sometimes I don't remember what it was like to have my sanity. I have tried to use other peoples sanity, it never fits.

Sense of Humor: Most people on trials have no sense of humor. I mean, I only touched one Door. or clicked that glowing terminal once. If I have learned one thing in 7 years in this game. If it's a door you click it, if it glows you click it. I mean..sheesh

Sarcasm: um..yeah..

Fun: So elusive. Like hot butter through a knife. wait..I got that wrongly

Monkey Farms: 1-50 in 2.5 hours. Woohoo...ding...wait for it...Ding...weee...

Wolf Farms: These used to be fun. And where I earned my stripes as a door sitter. I mean. where else would I have the time to make up silly binds to annoy people with.

Lack of Aggro Cap: I used to love seeing a single tank haul over half a map of wolves. That was a herd. And if you were lucky, you got to see the entire street of skulls and hellions running at you in Perez. That..was epic. Now..16. really. Meh!

Epic BOOM!: Remember when there was a time when a blaster didn't have a cap on the number of mobs they could hit with a Nuke. That...was TOTALLY WICKED...(like the kid from the end of Incredibles)..

Tele-Tanks. Used to be, only one way to have mez protection on a tank. And it rooted you. So..you had to teleport to get around. Talk about fun!

Monster Island Come On Down: I used to love seeing the huge herd of Monsters get dragged over by the Rad toggles used by the toon that was actually under the PI map. Now they have ways to keep the Monsters out. I miss that. If they took the war walls down..it would be fun to drag them to the AE building in Atlas Park...

The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.

Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?

A: You crash into another one.

I used to love the herding for the sake of herding. I remember SWA herded the Drek map once to see 'how many freaks is too many freaks.' His status protection got broken through at 200, and he faceplanted. Good times!

Gah. I looked at the names here and realized I have 2/3 of the people listed on my global friends list. Reading through it made me a little sad, and made me realize how much its the people played and chatted with that made the game so enjoyable to me for all these years.

And yes, while there are new people to chat with, and new players to play with, and with luck there always will be, sometimes the older folks, and the memories of playing this silly old game with them are what keep me here the most.

What I miss the most: its the crazy. Maybe its rose tinted hindsight here, but I remember people organizing and pulling off some of the oddest events, games, challenges and whatever. Win or lose, it was usually a blast just to be involved.

I am glad that there is a next generation of heroes to play this game, and I hope to still be playing when the generation after that comes around too.

I hope to never be a name on a list like this one. Or worse, not listed at all.

The end of one story always marks the beginning of another...

I also miss Sarabande. She probably moved on to something else to mess around with and break. I always liked her insight on game design and the mechanics of this game.

There are also a few folks I miss who weren't as well known on Protector. Soviet Troll, Yosef Vanya and TerminusEst13 were three folks who also often gave me little tips and tidbits about the game that still stick with me as I play my characters and choose powers for them as they advance.

For instance, it wasn't until Yosef told me about how mixing Weave into an SR character's build basically made Elude obsolete that I started looking at utilizing those two powers more often for greater survivability.

There was also Essex, the little Pink Healbot. She was one of the first people who showed me how welcoming the playerbase can be.

I remember them.

Had good times fighting them in RV.

PvP was damn fun back then.
