Invulnerability Question

Should I stay away from the energy resistance and can't remember, but the other passive? Not the lethal/smashing one, but the other one.

What Invulnerability powers should I stay away from period.

BTW, invulnerability is my fave tanker power and like it on scrappers too.

No.

I don't take unstoppable, but that's generally a matter of how you've built your build.

Yeah, figured that on unstoppable after using it a few times. But I hate respecting, so I have it, but never use it.

Invul works best with all of the t1-t8. I'd also take unstoppable on a scrapper, but consider it optional on a Tanker. I personally skipped unstoppable on my fav Invul tank and have never regretted it.

But I would not skip Resist Energies or Resist Elements. I would delay taking them until fairly late in the build, though.

They were buffed recently (in the last year or so).

Resist Elements (Fire/Cold passive) gives 20% Runspeed/Recharge debuff resistance

Resist Energies (Energy/Negative) gives 25% Recovery/End Drain Resistance

Neither of these are game breakers, you still can't charge into a pack of Malta Sappers like an Electric Tanker can, but they help, and make these powers more attractive.

I'd take them if you can, with Resist Energies preferable to Resist Elements.

Okay, your two biggie sets of defenses/resists should be

Smashing/Lethal
Energy/Negative Energy

You can slack a bit on Fire/Cold, but I wouldn't do it too much.

And if you build right, you can cap or near-cap all of them.

As for what to stay away from?

Unstoppable.

If you're going the defense-capped route, unstoppable brings you almost nothing but a guaranteed crash. Most of the stuff that's killing you through defense cap and your native resists will continue to kill you (at an only slightly arrested pace) when you pop Unstop. And god forbid you're still fighting when it drops.

I'll echo this pretty much word-for-word. In general, I like to avoid anything with a "crash" anyway, and my Invuln tank is plenty unstoppable without Unstoppable.

Both Resist [Whatever] powers are well worth taking, but not early on. At later levels, once you've fully shifted from "aw, man, this is a level where all I get is dumb ol' slots" to "geez, another power? But I don't have enough slots for the ones I've already got," that's when you take your passive Resists. Throw one, maybe two slots in there on top of the free one, and you're set.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Everything aside from Unstoppable. The passives have most of the special status resists that are very nice to have: Def Debuff Res, Slow res, end drain res, etc.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Ok, so on my one existing tank, I should do a respec and get rid of Unstoppable, but make sure I take all the rest. I used to think Unstoppable was good, but I quickly learned that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

The closer you get your Inv. tank to the defensive soft cap, the less likely you'll ever need Unstoppable. I have yet to take Unstoppable on any of my Inv. tanks.

My invuln tanker is built to be as sturdy as I can make her... I even plugged her psi hole with set bonuses... she's got 90% resist to s/l and 30-32% resistance to everything else... 50-52% when I have the might of the tanker proc stacked.

I wouldn't skimp on any of my passive resistance powers. Those coupled with invincibility's defense (along with about 30% static psi defense from set bonuses) makes my tanker extremely durable in any situation.

While I do have Unstoppable and I have used it once or twice when dealing with heavy exotic damage types, I don't need it often thanks to my broad spectrum defense/resistance and some hefty regen bonuses (my tanker regens about 52 hp/sec on top of everything else)
