I tend to enjoy AV killing on my debuff type toons like my Ill and Plant/Rad trollers. I also enjoy the up close and personal feeling using my DM/SR scrapper.

Usually whomever I am playing. Though the toon who has the biggest reputation as an AV killer in my arsenal is my Km/ElA stalker. He was soloing AVs BEFORE the ATOs and assassin focus update.

Silliness aside, I don't think of CoH as a cartoon MMO, but a comic book MMO, thus the term 'toon' has always slightly grated on me, too. But no more so than the term 'rolling a character' for a game in which there is 'zero' randomness in the character creation process.

Actually, "toon" is short for cartoon..which is an animated character...so CoH characters fit the term.
On topic..I don't think there is a best character in this game...if there was, everyone would have that. So balance-wise, there is no best.
Otherwise, everyone has different tastes. I'm partial to melee toons...but I am enjoying my MM a lot.
Blasters don't appeal much to me unless to fit a concept. I'm just not wired to play them well.
I would love to see the build for that rad/sonicdefender though.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
My plant/rad/fire controller, who is tier 4 all incarnate, but to be fair she was godly before incarnate stuff ever came about.
Oh, and AV's are nothing for her, she's a GM soloer. My husband's plant/storm/stone controller can do the same.

Soft-capped Ranged defense, Hover, enough recharge to keep Lingering Rad up 75% of the time at least with Power Build Up, and enough end recovery to keep going non-stop.
I don't win every time, but I win often enough that I can legitimately say I solo GMs with that character.
If you really want to see the details, I can throw together a Mids' build when I get home. I had it saved, but the hard drive in the computer it was on took a dump on me.

@Shred Monkey Toon is short for Cartoon Character, so either Toon or Char has gotta be correct, never mind the gainsayers.
As for what is the best toon/char to take into battle it's gotta be the one that I'm playing at the time. And...no you can't borrow her, she is not for hire, she is just for my personal use, mine and mine alone.
