7450 must be pretty new I haven't even seen reviews of the card yet.
Looking over the specs, it looks like a rebadge of the 6450.
Start by updating to the latest AMD driver 12.2 (I am currently testing it and so far, its been stable)
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...w_vista64.aspx
I would also suggest dialing down your graphics settings down to the lowest setting, then slowly adding things.
H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

The Radeon HD 7450 is really really low end and meant for nothing much more than browsing the net and watching videos. Maybe some low end gaming.
So newchemicals has it right. Play in safe mode for a while and see if you have the problem. If not then gradually raise different settings.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
Thanks for the help! It really sux that my graphics card sux. I'll try dialing down the fx and I'll let you know how that works (although I can't help thinking that I should've thought of that... *facepalm*).
Also, if I get a chance to get a better graphics card, what would you tech gurus recommend?
Well the biggest problem is that its a pre-built system. (Techie talk is, OMG someone didn't build it themselves)
So, those builders want you to buy a new one rather than to keep upgrading the current one. (Thus why all in ones are starting to get more popular)
I don't think best buy would be too happy with me if I remove the cover off a display model to pull out a tape measure.
Anyways, the HP website says it has a 300W PSU. So were looking at 7750 or 6570 as your best AMD options. Any higher power video card would probably require a beefier PSU. That isn't an easy task on some of these because the cases are small.
7750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102969
6570 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102934
I'd suggest a 6770 or 550 Ti but those require a 400W PSU and you have a 300W unit.
Make sure to upgrade video drivers to 12.1 or 12.2

At the risk of getting flamed:
Buy a Nvidia card if anything. They tend to be easier to get running well, and have fewer issues with new drivers.
Your welcome T_I to suggest the 430/440 which isn't as good as either of the AMD cards but it does fit within the power profile of the PSU. The 550 Ti is probably too much of a power draw on an HP PSU. You'll note it does require a PCI-E power.
It would be more helpful if you have actual links to cards rather than just be an Nvidia fanboy. Its flat out not helpful and the user could mistakenly go out and buy the awful 520 card.
I have no problems linking either card, but my preference is for value for the $
Here is a link for an Nvidia 430. Its a pretty low end video card so it won't run Ultra Mode except maybe the very lowest of low settings. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814162067
Whatever you do, DON'T buy a 520 its a worse card despite having a higher price and #

it may not be the card that the issue or coh or the drivers. what you may be seeing is the card heating up and locking the system up. most vendor for vidoe cards and video card vendors themselves have a fan profile is the drivers and or bios of the video cards. it a balance between cooling and fan sound.
on my old rig that has not been replaced i have nvidia 250 video card and if i turn the fan speed up over 50 percent it sound like a plane taking off. going back to your problem the driver or bios might have the fan speed default at 30 percent. that speed is fine for web and light gaming and may be fine in a larger case that has extra fan or two cooling the system down. I would see if the ati control pannel has a fan preset speed and or setting for games. and see if setting the fan speed higher or telling the fan to come on sooner will help. also another trick to see if it a heat issue on a small case it take the side pannel off on the side of the video card it the case is a soild side pannel. taking it off will let cooler air into the case.
also check if your pc table is cutting off airflow to the computer a lot of these new small desk can cause a pc to run out do to lack of airflow.
It would be more helpful if you have actual links to cards rather than just be an Nvidia fanboy. Its flat out not helpful and the user could mistakenly go out and buy the awful 520 card.

2) At least I'm not suggesting "try all these different PITA steps to make an AMD/ATI card work after you buy it instead of buying a Nvidia one that will work out of the box with little hassle".
Maybe I am a fan, but not a fan of a brand name. I'm a fan of "reliable performance".
You're just a fan of AMD/ATI despite all the obvious problems with them, which I find being more blind than I am.
(Edit: Yes, I would use AMD/ATI if they were more reliable, or at least just as reliable and lower price, than Nvidia ones. I would even use a completely different brand if I could, but I go with Nvidia because of the performance.)
So....sorry for actually suggesting the simplest and easiest course of action, that I know of, rather than trying to peddle "my favorite" despite the aggravation it would cause, like you are.
The biggest problem I have with nVidia cards is the amount of power they draw compared to similar performing AMD cards. If AMD could keep their monthly drivers working consistently with this game, I would probably lean toward AMD.
The second biggest problem is the obvious price gap between the GT 520 ($55) and the GTX 550Ti ($140). AMD has several cards that fit nicely into that gap for the budget minded builder but with nVidia you have to rely on previous generation cards that are already EOL.

Aye, that is one of the reasons why I didn't suggest a GTS 450 which is basically, an old 8800 rebadged to 9800 then to GTS 450.
Actually, 12.1 and 12.2 AMD drivers have been ok.

No, you are thinking of the GTS 250 which uses essentially the same GPU as the 9800GT, 9800GTX, 9800GTX+ and the 512MB 8800GT.
The GTS 450 uses a significantly cut down GPU from the GTX 460.

I turned the settings down (and in many cases, off) and it still freezes and crashes every 20-30 minutes. /e frustrated
It may be overheating as microc suggested, but I honestly have no idea what the problem is.

I downloaded the latest drivers as suggested. I'm currently downloading the hardware monitor, so I'll post what it says once it's done.
If I remember correctly, Windows 7 has botha CPU temperature monitor widget and a GPU one as well.
They are simpler and a lot smaller than the program you are downloading. They may be available online or already preloaded onto your system.
Okay, I ran HWmonitor in the background while playing, waited for the game to crash, then took a screenshot of the HWmonitor window. I then reset the min/max and did the same thing again:
screenshot 1:
screenshot 2:
In case you can't see, the max graphics card temp. in both cases was about 150 degrees.
Those temperatures all look fine.
To the op as you said this is a new pc to you looking at the cpu temps there high to start off with and looking at the temps looks like to me the gpu fan may not be working or connected to the video card so that it moving heat away from the gpu. any easy test is turn off the pc open the side panel and have a friend turn the pc on while you have it on it side with the pannel open and a flash light. the gpu fan should spin up about 10 sec after the power is turned on. one thing with hand me down pc is how dusty or was the old owner a smoker. a lot of time if they have cats or it was in a shop there can be dust/dirt clogging the fans. a can of canned air or someone with a compressor with an air nosel will clean out most dust from a pc. if it not dust but the fan is not spinning or it real slow. take the modekl and ser# down and see if the card has a warranty. if the fan has falled off from a move...if it not broken all you need is to see if the thearmal paste is fine (looks like tooth paste but helps move the heat from the gpu/cpu to a heat sink.) if the paste is missing or is dirty just wip it off and pick up a new tube at best buy/radio shack or local computer parts store it runs about 10.00 a tube. and use only use a little bit.

Can anyone more technically inclined explain this?
10240MB seems like an odd number for RAM. I didn't think RAM would be setup in a multiple of 5 sticks of 2GB(and 10 sticks of 1GB is even more strange).
Normally you have 4-6 slots for RAM on a motherboard, filling them with identical sticks of all 1GB or 2GB to end up with multiples of 2 like 4GB, 6GB, 8GB and 12GB.
That just looks odd to me.

(Edit: for under load conditions)
You do know that computer parts operate well above ambient temperature correct?
I happen to know that those temperatures are perfectly functional and even cooler than my currently functional computer.
His/her computer is not overheating, unless it is something other than the motherboard, CPU or GPU.
Edit:
Those temperatures are perfectly normal for when the game is running well.
That doesn't seem right to me.

microc: Its a new PC, but I have seen a few people have "issues" with the Bulldozer CPU. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Looks like the same old drivers. Can you uninstall the drivers and run the latest version?

Nope, that is what HP sells it with, 10GB of RAM.

I get a little bit of lag, but not much. Then, the screen freezes, the little "your computer is thinking" teal circle comes up, and a box pops up saying "City of Heroes has encountered an error and needs to close."
This is extremely frustrating, especially since I just got this computer recently. Please Help!
FYI, I'm not very technically inclined (you might even say technically disinclined), so... yeah. Fortunately, I read Hyperstrike's guide so here you go:
