Powerlevel to 50?
2.) If the Weekly Task Force is one that is open to folks in your level range, you'll also get xp faster from that. To be honest, the current WTF is Statesman/Lord Recluse, which is open to level 45-50. Your friend who is level 45 would get a huge part of the way to 50 if they did STF a couple of times this weekend (especially if they had an XP booster temp power active).

Team with your upper-level friends doing even-level content. Even when you're little, empathy is super powerful. And if your friends don't mind a day or two of plowing through whites and yellows (it'll make them feel super powerful to blast through wimpy enemies), your ill/emp will be 18 and get delicious, delicious Phantom Army in no time.

This is a great way to clear debt too by the way...
"Comics, you're not a Mastermind...you're an Overlord!"
Thanks so much everyone for your input. I've actually got the situation sorted out now, due to all the assistance here.
I basically farmed the sewers with a buffer/healer till I hit 25 and now I'm running with them and they're doing much better now. One actually hit 49 as of Friday.

No. The weekly strike target switches on TUESDAY morning.

This is true, but it WAS Tuesday morning where I am when I made my post (a little after 1 AM to be exact), so we're both right
(Or at least I thought it was when I made that post - and this one. Apparently I have lost my sense of time.)

Before I start, I know that power leveling is somewhat of a taboo topic. Before you flame please understand a few things. I've taken more characters than I care to count up to level 20 and 30, a baker's dozen to 40, and two all the way to 50. I'm a bit of a character making fanatic so all but one of my 50's have been restarted a dozen times over and no longer exist. I'm not asking about power leveling because I'm one of those "I just want a level 50" idiots. I actually like the CoH storyline, and I already have a 50 that I can be proud of.
At any rate, after that's all said and done, the reason I want to know if there is a "quick" way to level up is because I have a couple friends currently at 43 and 45 who are both running blasters and aren't doing very well together. They're too squishy, as it were, and getting very frustrated with all their XP debt. My current level 50 is also a blaster, which doesn't help much. I'm looking to create a character that would compliment my friend's characters like a tank, healer, or possibly even mastermind. I'd then like to get to their level as quickly as possible so I can join the team and give them a better chance at survival (and getting themselves to 50). I'm used to running the story lines (cause I like them) but that takes forever to level. I've never really leveled any other way, thus my dilemma. So, if anyone has any pointers on getting some quick grinding (or whatever) up to 45ish or even 50 I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance everyone. |
These days it almost seems like the Devs have given us the easiest PL tool of all.. DFB! Come on I can run that thing 4 times in about 1 hour, including time between runs to recruit as player leave, and go from level 2 to level 14 or 15. I leave with 4 Buffs that increase my abilities and a pile of SO enhancers that outshine everything but 15 or 20 level IOs.
As of tomorrow we can ad the DIB from level 15 all the way to 50 which unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to do on Beta but if its anything like DIB should also make it possible to just stand in Atlas Park right next to Mz Liberty and run the thing over and over .. gaining temp powers and normal recipe and salvage drops unlike farming in AE.
For all the hype about not farming or PLing if 13 levels in 1 hour isn't PLing I don't know what is. LOL (PS.. all my newer characters start in the sewers before moving on).
Were always the good guys. In D&D, were lawful good. In City of Heroes were the heroes. In Grand Theft Auto we pay the prostitutes promptly and never hit them with a bat. Leonard
Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
Heh, real PLing? So, I started a character Saturday night. (One of endless attempts to create the perfect ranged squishy!) I got him to level 18 in about 2 hours. I log in Sunday morning, run another DFB and am at bottom of 19. My friend messages me "going on a AE ticket run before lunch, wants some exp?" I almost said no, cause my plan was to hit POSi1&2, and the rest of the TF commander stuff in order that day. But, was like, sure, cause the guy is cool. I dc'd partway thru the AE run, (Apple cramming stuff onto my comp) reloaded/rejoined TF. About an hour. From bottom of 19 to 30th level. One run, with DC. That is PLing, in case anyone wonders.
I will of course return the favor for my friend, although he was farming fire women of some type and my Elec/Elec Scrapper is more beastly vs Freaks, so I'll prob go that route. Got a feeling with i22 on Tuesday I may repay that pretty soon too lol.
Ah, I did get some of my TF stuff done as well, a Sis Psyche, a Posi 1, a Citadel, then a Posi 2. Was at 37 when I logged Sunday night. Best part? I actually really like the character build, probably more than all my other experiments. Light some incense and say nice things so my late level build plan and iTrials go well huh?

1.) Double XP weekend is coming up soon (March 16-19). That will speed up xp gain for all of you, and if y'all are able to set up a bit of free time to play then so much the better!
3.) Your friend who is level 43 would need a bit of help to get 45 if he wanted to do STF this weekend for the bonus XP. My advice would be to roll an Emp/Fire Defender and have one or both of them exemp down and kill LT Hellions in the park in Atlas until you hit level 4. Train, then try an AE cave farm map with both blasters at -1x4 or 5. If that goes well, take it to +0 and then +1, then gradually increase the number of players its set for. If you play smart and use inspirations, an emp ought to be able to keep them on their feet, and as /fire you'll have some extra AOE attacks to help fuel the slaughter.
