How to acquire Catalysts...?

I've done a ton of iTrials on my main Scrapper. I am at currently 59 Emps, most earned since they started dropping. No Catalyst. 3 Purp recipes, no Catalyst. (okay, 2 of the purps were on an ITF) But no Catalyst. So, Do i need to plan to earn around 500 Emps worth of farming to Catalyse 6 ATOs? Which are then character bound? And no guarantee I will get the six then, just decent odds? I am being serious. This doesnt seem reasonable.

or spend $30.00 on gambling with reasonable odds of getting 6. But no guarantee of even getting one. And i need 6. 5 are useless to me (near useless). So i can spend $30.00 and get 3-4. Spend another $30.00 and get none. Then what, spend $30.00 more? Look I like the game, I have been a constant subscriber for almost 5 years, AND I have bought lots of cash worth of stuff since Freedom ($15-$45 a month on top of sub) but do not ask me to gamble a hundred dollars for this. If starbucks asked me to Gamble a dollar at a time until two coins lined up and they gave me coffee I would pretty much do what I am doing here. Explore other options for coffee. I will pay for stuff. I will pay good amounts for stuff, I have seen me do it. I have bought enough tuned Kin Combats to kit out 2 characters, tuned reactive armors for one, tuned LOTG sets for 2, tuned Thunderstrikes for 1. (I am talking multiple sets of each, sometimes 4-5 sets) I will pay good real money for stuff at the store. But asking me to give you money and you give me nothing, then ask me to give you more money? I get irritated really fast with your business model. Really irritated.

You can always wait one week for DA farming, they are dropping there too. And contrary to popular belief, you dont NEED them. Just a thought

As explained upthread, I have been iTrial farming with my main and received none. Do you know if the drop rates in DA are significantly higher than iTrial farming?

As for need them? Okay, I'll throw out what I have and why I want them. I have a full set of Scrapper ATO. I want to put them on my Scrapper. My Scrapper is a very high end build. In fact, I considered him "done." If I put the ATOs on him they will (with the exception of crit bonuses) actually decrease his performance curve. If I "Purple" the ATOs with catalysts they will slightly increase his performance curve, plus grant extra crits. Yes, i know I do not "need" them, but I will not put them onto the Scrapper until I get them, and I currently see no clear road to get them. Gambling 30-100 on the Paragon Market with no guarantee is stupid, and my significant amount of time in ITrials has not acquired even one.

DA soloing should net you more incarnate drops. With the difficulty slider, you can adjust the foes for your optimal kill rate and go to town.
Thanks Zombie Man, that is encouraging. My Scrapper is a beast and should have a good kill rate.

Zwill mentioned in "For Fun" that i22 is imminent. So, I'll save my gambling money for Vegas and try this method. (At least in Vegas they give me free beer while they rip me off!) Of course, if they want to straight up put these on the Paragon Market with no tricks I will gladly budget and fork over some greenbacks for them...

Crap, they can't be emailed to our other toons?

This game seems to be stuck on the never-ending teeter-totter of "We want more End-Game™! Give us more End-Game™ NAO and we'll have excuses to grind until the end of time for Cool Stuff™!" and on the other side, "You devs have got be KIDDING us! Most of the comments I see on the forums are from the second group*, of which I was a part of from the start. I didn't like how the "new improved end-game" "helped" EQ1 years ago, and I'm getting kind of sick of it here. Still, this is what the devs CLAIMED we all wanted, right?!?

*(Yes, this may be my perception affecting my reality, but either there aren't tons of posts crying "YAY MOAR GRINDINGING LOL!" or else I'm selectively blocking all those posts from my vision and short-term memory.)

I actually like the End Game Trials. But I will run endless Blueside TFs with kill alls, boring as those are. I was disappointed (and quite verbal about it) with the TPN. it is repetitive, glitchy, and it's cheat mechanic (the 1000 yd boot to the head) is invisible and stupid. On the other hand I love the UG, from soup to nuts. I will run the LAMs and BAFs regular, and with a good team Mom is worthy. Keyes is okay since they changed it. (thanks Devs)

I initially complained about the reward rates in the Trials, and in fact I gutted and deleted a Tank I ran for months in the trials (and spent 400 mil tier 4ing) because his success rate was so poor. Whether anecdotal or not every Blaster, Scrapper, and Brute I have rolled through the Trials has buried his success rate at getting rewards. There are only so many Trials I will do getting commons before I delete. He hit that wall, and I should have stopped long before I did with him.

I am posting here partly because I do not want to incur similar frustration with this Scrapper. Much like the Tank, i like this Scrapper, and want to have him around, and not get so frustrated I burn him. So, in a way this thread is my cry out for an intervention lol.

My question is two-fold.

1) What is a amount of Super Packs necessary to buy to have a very good chance of getting 6 Catalysts?

2) What is the drop rate in Incarnate Trials. I personally have run a huge amount of trials this week, and while richer for it I have received no Catalyst.
It's like Purple recipes it's a rare drop, doesn't matter how many you got.

Not all my characters make use of the ATO's. I'd like to be able to move Catalysts around, rather than have them sit in my inventory never to be used.

With a 14% chance for a Catalyst per card, and needing 6 Catalysts, you'd need 6/.14 = ~43 VR cards. 46, with the costume pieces. But not every pack contains a VR card - about 80% do, IIRC. So 46/.8 = ~58 packs will get you an average of 6 catalysts.
Offcourse it all random, I opened 48 packs and only got the 1 catalyst.

I REALLY hate gambling. But I wanted the costume options in the packs. I bought 24, opened it, and got most of the costume pieces and 2 catalysts. I understand that once you have the costume pieces the odds increase. Although each card turn is a dice roll and no guarantees, argh, gambling.

I did use some of the team inspiration (2 med acc/dam and 1 huge Damage) to help my league in a Cathedral of Pain trial this weekend. We were struggling, and had made about 4 unsuccessful runs at taking down the three pillars. Time was running out, so I buffed our team. We made it by seconds. The buffs were still running when we rushed the AV a couple minutes later. Felt nice that those things might have helped in a situation going very south very fast. I wont use that stuff a lot, but at times like that where 24 people are trying to do something it is something I will root around in my e-mail for.
