How to tell which SSA's you have done?
My best advice is to make a spreadsheet, or some list in notepad with each characters name and the date that you ran the last SSA with that character. Obviously, since you can't recall - just wait 8 days from now, and run one SSA on each character. I say 8 days, because as I understand it, if you ran one SSA at noon on monday and then ran another the following monday, unless you are sure of the time you finished, you might miss the alignment merit. So, I just wait 8 days. I have enough toons where on one day, I'll run a couple, and repeat every day. And when a new one comes out, each toon will run SSA1, and the new one.
All those merits do add up, and they save a boat load of inf when it's time to slot those pricy IOs.

The wait is six days and eighteen hours, according to a test that Ironblade did. (His results were actually "between 6 days 17.5 hours and 6 days 18.7 hours", so it's almost guaranteed 6 days 18 hours.) So you can do your stuff at the same time each week and unless you start super early the next time you won't have to worry.
I can't seem to log in right now for whatever random reason, so I can't double check. Do these contacts grant you a permanent souvenir for the arc? Or do they revoke the souvenir when the TF is complete? If their souvenirs are permanent you can check that way.

Is there a badge for each step of the arc, or anything of that nature that I can check to see eon each character which steps they have done so I don't double up and run a portion which I've already done?

One useful thing I can add: Once you set up some tracking method and you're sure it's been long enough since you last ran the arcs.... You can tell *AFTER THE FACT* if you just did your 'free run' or a 'reward timer run'. The dialog box to claim your reward tells you whether you just did your first run on that toon or not.

I have a spreadsheet where I enter the last time I ran an SSA on the character and it compares it to the present time/date. When I update the page, it flags all characters that are eligible for earn an A-Merit. I also have a section to track my 'free runs' on each character.

Check your souvenir tab on your nav bar. You can read which one you have done from there.
The souvenir tab also won't tell you how long ago you did it the most recent time.
I send an email to the character each time I complete one, listing all the ones I've done on that character. I do have to log into a character to find out when I did it, but I do them infrequently enough that I generally don't have that problem.
If you need to check it globally, just send the email to your global instead of the character that did it. Or you could maintain the list in a single email and just copy and paste it each time you need to update it.

This game has gotten a little too complicated to be totally "alt friendly" these days.

I chopped most of it out for clarity. It's quite pretty with 40 characters listed with the red, blue and green coding.
Explanation (refer to letters across the bottom of the image):
a) color bar to indicate hero or villain
b) which account the character is on (I have two)
c) character name
d) timestamp of the last time running an SSA *AFTER* the 'free run'
e) number of days ago that was - calculated from the date at left and the 'Right Now' box at top
f) cell displays Yes if the days is 6.75 or more *AND* column K shows Y
g) alignment merits the character had before running SSA's
h) earned from SSA's
i) how many they have spent
j) how many the character currently has
k) has the character confirmed their alignment? (If they are in the process, I put the number of alignment missions run.)
l) section where I track which character has taken their 'free run' of each arc
Additional comments:
- The f column uses conditional formatting. If the cell contents ="Yes", then the cell turns green to get my attention.
- Dr Dolomite has a grey bar since he is Vigilante and not eligible for alignment merits.
- Endothermy's name is in blue since he is a tank.
- Endothermy and Fidgety Girl show an identical time stamp since I was dual-boxing the arc. I solo it on the tank while the other character door-sits.
- The shortcut to add a timestamp in Excel is: CTRL+;<spacebar>SHIFT+CTRL+;
- The formula in column E uses a combination of relative and absolute cell references. Using the spreadsheet excerpt above, Endothermy's entry in column E would show =$D$2-D6. That way, when I make a new line for a new character, I can copy the formula and it will always calculate from cell D2 no matter what row I put it in.
- Yes, I like working with spreadsheets.
- Yes, I have too much time on my hands.

No, I totally meant, like, share it with the class. *grabby hands* Download link! I don't know how to do anything in Excel but I am GREAT!!! at plugging numbers in and making blinkenlites!

You can view and download the sheet here:

Edit:
The first column will switch from white to blue or red with a "H" or "V". You will have to copy cells E, F, and K to a new line if you have over 100 characters to track.

I'm a google doc newbie.
It looksl ike I could export the spreadsheet to excell locally on my harddrive (or to my Dropbox folder so I can share it between computers since I don't always play from the same location), but is there a way to save it into "my google documents" in the cloud so that I can have access to it from everywhere, but without sharing my toons with the rest of the people reading this post?
also: is there a way to enter the time as as single click, or do I have to type it in?

Not that I know of, but haven't looked.

I've noticed a fairly glaring calculation error in the spreadsheet (if you cross a month boundary bad things happen), so I've corrected the googledocs version of the spreadsheet.

So I've done them on a couple of my newer characters, and I know I've done some on a few of my older characters and I would like to go through and clean up a few of the freebie A Merits, but I am not sure which characters have done which steps of the arc.
Is there a badge for each step of the arc, or anything of that nature that I can check to see eon each character which steps they have done so I don't double up and run a portion which I've already done?
