Help1 - Alternative ways to buy paragon points?

I started playing 3 or 4 days ago and I really want to load up some points to use in the cash shop to pimp out my character a bit and buy some extras, but every avenue I persue to try add points gets blocked.

First - my situation:
I'm a British citizen and resident currently staying with my family who retired to Spain some years back for the next 6-9 months. The region of Spain I live in is very remote, there are no Game, Walmart or any of these stores people talk about, it's just small town grocery shopping and appliances.

First of all, I tried to buy through the NCSoft store, but my Spanish card (A maestro) is not accepted by NCSoft, my British debit card (A visa), is refused out of hand by NCSoft because their fraud prevention software detects I'm using it from a non-British IP address (and support says there is no way they can make an exception)

Next up, I tried setting up a PayPal account, but I can't complete it from here in Spain, because they thought the IP activity was odd so they limited my account access and they refuse to clear the limited status until i make a phonecall to confirm everything is kosher from my my home phone in England.

Several people have recommended I "go to Walmart and buy some game cards" but, they don't seem to realise Walmart, Game etc don't exist outside a small number of English speaking countries.

All I want to do is add some paragon points and buy some costume parts (And enable the ability to use /tell and /trade) some time before Guild Wars 2 comes out, without having to go through a cavity search and background check - does anyone have any OTHER suggestions for how I could buy points?

Is there any kind of reliable 3rd party websites that sells paragon points as card codes from for example?

- Truly frustrated "Snowsong", Virtue server

Sadly, you're pretty much SOL if you can't get your paypal limits lifted. You can only get paragon points from the NCsoft website and the in-game store (which is a pseudo web browser extension of the NCsoft store).

Your only option is to send someone you trust some money in the mail. Have them log in to your account and buy the points for you. (This is why you need someone you trust.)

The only other way would be to try temporary/disposable visa cards

1. Find out who does sell game cards in Spain, and make plans to travel there. It's not uncommon in the U.S. that people live "out in the country" and need to make a special trip into a big town to get certain things.

2. Find out what Spanish card NC Soft does accept. Get that card, by switching some funds to a bank that offers it if necessary.

3. Re. PayPal, they sound like the want to confirm that the number matches the card. See if you can get the number on the credit card updated so that you can take the call where you presently reside. Or get a new card from a bank in Spain and register that with PayPal.

This should work, card would be registered in Spain from the get go so don't see why not.

This sounds like a terrible idea. Unless the people who do this for you are perhaps your parents back in England or something similar. There's no way I'd trust anyone who wasn't an immediate family member with both an online password and a wad of cash. Just ain't going to happen.

If buying game time cards will work for what you want to do as you suggested in your OP, why not just buy them online? Amazon sells them.

Well, an immediate family member would be an option for you.

I've done it several times with friends, both me sending them money and them sending me money. No issues so far because I have honorable, trustworthy friends and I myself am honorable and trustworthy. Why would they or I jeopardize our friendship by stealing money/gear/data?

Besides, anytime we've done it, we've always changed our passwords to something silly (like aggerules11) and then changed it back when it was done.

i have never used gamecards. However, if they function there is a good chance your problem is solved. Buy some with your credit card from a on-line store (Wal-Mart, Gamestop, wherever) and have them quick shipped to you.

If you cannot buy stuff on-line with your credit card anywhere you really need to talk to your bank directly.

Game time cards do not translate into paragon points. Unless you count getting 400pp a month from them. Which most people would not.

Then having a parent or family member log into your account from your home comp may be your only solution. (easy solution)

Contacting your bank and seeing what they can do for travelers is also an option, but I would not count on anything happening quickly. If there is a good solution they have set up for travellers it will probably still take a week or two.

another option may be going to a bank in that country, and setting up a account with an ATM card attached. (Preferably issued same day) good luck.

Go get a pre-loaded (pre-paid) $100 visa, mastercard, american express. I'm not sure about Spain, but you cant throw a rock without hitting someplace that sells them in the USA.

However going VIP for a month *would* grant the ability to use /tell, /trade, etc. that the OP expressed an interest in - as well as add those 400PP.

R_M's Guide to Getting Cheap Months has some excellent and potentially viable ways to do that in this situation.

I realize this isn't an ideal solution, or even the solution the OP was originally looking for - however I think VIP is a great value even without using these tips and tricks, and should be seriously considered by anyone with more than a passing interest in the game

Im spanish so maybe I could be of some help.

First, most banks have an option of creating a virtual visa card, which you can access from your bank webpage, put money on it, and whatever you may need. Ive used them and works fine.

Second, not sure whats the problem with your IP :S You may want to try to call Telefonica or your ISP to have that fixed, but good luck, ISPs in Spain do SUCK, all of them :P

Lastly, most shopping malls (is that the translation for "Centro comercial"? Not usre, sorry) have a Game shop, or a Media Markt, although they usually dont sell anything if its not WoW. You may want to check them too. Also, just in case, check their webpage.

Anyway, your best option is the virtual visa card. IF you dont know how to do it, ask your bank. Ive used them with BBVA and BBK with no problems
