I love my VEAT, people on my server know it.
I have been playing him for over a year, and he is by far the best and expensive toon i have. I also know i'm not alone in my love for the VEAT AT.

I see people on different AT's that can fully customize everything regarding their toon, and i understand that us VEATs and the HEATs have limitations regarding full customization. However, i did come a few ideas.

1st of all, let me state my love for the original VEAT outfit.
Even though the look isn't unique to the game, the villain Crab and Bane NCPs have the same look, it is however customizable to the point that i can create a unique look by changing the colors.
However, there are improvements that can be made;

Capes on Crab Soldiers:
The capes on Bane packs are set on the 1st 'knuckle' of the arms. This is the part where the legs really start, and the part where the Crab Packs moving arms are hinged on.
Since this is the same pack on both the VEAT and the Bane it should technically be possible to attach a cape to it. I am aware that the Crab Pack sits lower on the back than the Bane pack, this just means that the cape will be closer to the ground for Crabs if they choose to wear a cape.


Crab/Bane Pack Logos:
Some of us, like me, took our VEAT to Blue side and turned it into a Hero or Vigilante, while others made them Rogues. Walking around Paragon City with an Arachnos logo on my back, makes me feel as if i have a target on my back, and also seems to give people the assumption i'm still a full villain.
As mentioned before, the Crab/Bane main pack is the same, if we can recode it so we can choose either a logo like we can choose Chest Emblems, easier would be the Alignment Icons or even choose nothing. The smaller logos on the hinges of the weaponized arm part are also static, meaning a slight change of coding to reflect the lager logo, the same counts for the cape attachment part.
The part where the logo is is round, making it fairly easy to to create the Alignment icons or leave them blank. If i could i'd pick which of these, not attuned to my Alignment.
For villains you can leave it as is, say the Soldier of Arachnos AT logo.
For players who are, or choose the Rogue icon:


For Heroes:


For Vigilantes:


And we can not forget the Role Players who might like Loyalists:

Dual color gloves:
The Hunstman gloves are dual color, however the Crab/Bane gloves are not. If we can delete the current gloves, and replace them with new gloves which have new coding to also allow dual colors. The blade/trim can have a different color than the main glove, more like the Hunsman glove has, meaning that even if people choose not to have blades, they can still have their secondary color highlighting their gloves.


Glowing Eyes:
Stated many times before on the forums.
For many the glowing eyes issue are not an issue, but i have a feeling that the players who are playing their VEAT most often have a majority of people who would like this issue finally resolved. Having them regular red, Helmet's secondary or even a 3rd color glow would be an improvement.
In a nutshell:
NPC Banes and Crabs have glowing eyes, Lore Pet Banes have glowing eyes, Huntsman helmets have glowing eyes and the Crab/Bane Pre-order helmet has glowing eyes. Everyone with the same style helmet has glowing eyes, only the PC VEAT Bane/Crab helmet doesn't have glowing eyes.

VEAT Uniform as costume parts:
As i stated before, and i'm sure more feel this way. I love the VEAT uniform. I wish there was an option to make multiple outfits with these costume parts. I'd love to see my VEAT in his Black with golden trim, and when i feel like it, switch him to black with red trim.. without visiting a costume editor and wasting influence on it.
I am not asking to give all toons access to the VEAT uniform, just the VEATs themselves.
I hear the criesfrom others saying it is an uniform, so that's why only one costume has it. I say look at the armed forces. They have desert camo for in the desert, winter camo for in the snow, urban camo for in cities, u name it, their uniform will have a different pattern, and i wish i could do the same on my Crab. If i want to wear the full outfit or just the blade gloves, i should be able to, same goes for the chest pieces, helmets and everything else.

Capes for male Widows:
Would be nice for the male Widows to have this costume piece ported over.

there are a number of little things like this that should be done.

like... maybe set aside a day... and get a bunch of them done XD
or... set aside half an hour a week to get some done every week. there are plenty tiny tweaks and additions like this in the forums what would greatly please the playerbase.

There are several items on the Female Widow that need to be ported over to the male Widow.
Since i don't really know much about Widow outfits, feel free to add this.

I only added my suggestions, a few long standing ideas and some complaints i remembered.

This is not just for me, this is for all of us who love the VEATs!

More guns. Right now we only have 3 models available to all, and a buyable steam punk one.

More claws. Would be quite nice to get some variation on them.

Maybe thorax patterns on crab backpacks?

For the Soldier of Arachnos costume - The ability to roll helmetless. Widows get this, why not Soldiers? Also, maybe the ability to use other logos on the armor plate. So that I'm not walking around with a spider-shaped target on my chest.

There are technical reasons we can't have the lighted eyes on the helmets for the Arachnos outfit. I don't recall the exact explanation, but it had something to do with the neck/shoulder part of the Arachnos outfit taking up the spot that the effect needs to be attached to.

This is also why we can't have helmetless SoAs.

Yes, I know .... "Marshal Blitz", you say. Have you ever taken a good look at his model? It's painfully obvious that getting his bare head visible is a workaround of some sort. One that the devs likely wouldn't feel comfortable attempting to port over to player characters.

IMO, this could be worked around, since there are different sizes of NPC VEATs who do have glowing eyes. So why is it possible for them, yet not for the PC VEATs?
One idea i have is to replace the FX node on the NP VEAT helmet to where the eyes are. This would also fix the Aura issue.

I agree wholeheartedly with the vast majority of this. I'm not completely sold on the idea of faction symbols on the backs, but I'd be cool with it if we had access to all (or at least most) of the chest symbols for our backpacks.

Better yet, I'd love to see a crab-backpack that is not spider-themed, just for all those crabs that go independent or switch sides. Sure, still hardwired with cybertech (though I'd love to ignore my enforced origin and get something occult or skeletal there as well), just not spidertech. A PPD themed crab pack would be awesome.

Of course, I wish there was a way to lose the pack alltogether. I'd be happy to skip the crab offensive powers and stick to my machinegun, and just get Crab Armor defenses if I could avoid the dang costume nerf. It's ironic that one of the things this game does better than anyone (keeping function and form separate) gets suspended for some of the coolest powers/powersets in the game, like VEATs, HEATs, and Stone Armor. They'd all be orders of magnitude more awesome if they were options (customizable options at that... I'd love to trick out a HEAT to be fire-themed in it's forms) instead of mandatory.

And yeah, more guns please. I'd pay money for a variant of the "Chinese M1 L1 triple-pulse assault rifle" (the fake rotary assault weapon used extensively in Deep Rising) with a grenade launcher attachment for my VEAT (and my AR/BR toons).

Very nice post.
I only just discovered, myself, that the Arachnos symbol cannot be removed (or recolored to, at least, lessen its appearance) from the Crab backpack.
I was rather surprised since we can change alignments with them and all.

I'm all for these adjustments/options.
