Quick Question?!?!?!?

Do you solo or team? If you solo and you're also trying to re-learn the game, getting up there in levels can be difficult for some. My advice is join global channels if you're a high enough tier (I think all of 7) to be able to do so, and most global channels are a good place to find teams.

What server are you on? If you have a toon on Justice or Protector my husband and I can help you get some levels, not necessarily through PLing, so don't go there, people. =P Feel free to hit me up at @Winged One if you are on those servers and wish to team or just get some help.

And if you want to have a lvl 50 toon that does main lvl 50 content, then you have to sub. Incarnate stuff is for VIP's only, and it's really the main thing you do as a 50, well...seems like it anyways.

"Sub" in the first quote would mean "subscribe" and become VIP.

There IS still a lot of "free" stuff to do at 50 besides incarnate content, but right now incarnate content is new and shiny and that's where a lot of the VIP players are.

What server are you on? Some of us vets could take you under our wing and give yah some pointers.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

You can't PM Ridia, so not VIP. (Sorry Ridia I lump F2P/Premium together)

<--- Click on the forum name, if PM doesn't appear as an option, player is F2P/Premium

I have a level 8 Tech/Energy/Energy Blaster and a level 5 Natural/Broad Sword/Energy Aura/Scrapper. I have worked more on the Blaster doing beginner missions but I think I like my Scrapper more. I am waiting to buy some stuff from the markey because I really want to take the theme/costume/name of my Scrapper and recreate it as a Natural/Street Justice/Dark Armor/Brute.

Both of my characters are on the Champion server, I also have one slot on the Protector server with no character made.

We (my husband and I) can help you get some levels on Protector or Justice. My global is in my previous post, so feel free to hit me up if you're interested. We could probably do Champion, too.

Yes, if you're just totally lost, someone could let you tag along for some missions and show you around to the various contacts. The DFB trial is good for just gaining levels, not so good for learning the game.

I play on Champion, I have four 50's there. I'd be willing to give you a quick tour of some of the starting zones and important contacts. If others want to do the same, that's great. Reply here if you want to do that, and then give me a tell in game to set up like a time and date or something (you can send /tell in game, correct?).

Good luck.

Also, once you're a tad more comfortable, I find the Positron TFs to be fairly easy, and fairly fast, and a good way to gain levels in a timely manner, that actually lets you use your new powers you get at lvl 12 and 14, etc. Powers you can't use in the DFB. This translate into getting a better idea about how to play your character, and a better chance to see if you like the way the powers work together. I find it really hard to tell if I like a combo on the DfB trial, but as always YMMV.

For the record: When telling us what your character is, we don't need to know their origin. It doesn't matter at all for any of the questions you're likely to ask about them.

If you really want to level fast and get a feel for the game, look for people doing mission teams. It doesn't really matter if you're in their level range or not too much. A level 7 trying to get on a level 50 team might be frowned upon, but a level 30 probably wouldn't.

If you get get on a team of 5-8, you'll steamroll along and the levels will fly by before you know it -- especially the low and slow ones. You can level even faster by getting on what people call farms, but IMO simply teaming a lot on regular missions is still fairly fast and has the advantage that you don't miss the fun part of the game.

It helps if you're high enough on the Premium ladder to have tells. If not, look in the team window when you're not on one and set your search flag to "Looking for Any", then enter a comment that you can't reply to tells and will accept invites. Setting the flag is a good idea either way -- you'll be at the top of the list when people do a search to find potential teammates to invite.

Once you get comfortable with the pace of missions and general layout of the city, you can also try leading your own teams, which is handy when there's nobody currently leading any but lots of people who would want to join if only they were asked. It's easy! Just type /sea to get the search window, click 'Find' to clear the default settings which only look in your zone and level range, and look for people who are either flagged as LFG (they'll have a different icon), or have something in their search comments. Send them a polite tell asking if they are interested in teaming, and don't take it personally if they'd rather solo.

If you do that, remember that you don't *need* any particular AT or role like a tank or a healer. You can do missions just fine with a team of all scrappers. Everyone adds to the team's strength in different ways, so it's usually good to have a mix, but not necessary. You also don't need a full team -- if you have 4 and don't see anyone obviously interested, the missions all scale to team size, so you can do great running with 4 instead of sitting around waiting for more.

But most of all, make sure you're having fun!
