I am sure that there are writers that fall into this category as much as I am that there are writers facing the standard entertainment business obstacles to doing their own thing. Lucas was just on Oprah talking about the issue.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Yup, I remember all the hardcore SW geeks in the audience squealing in delight the first time Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn said "I"m taking them to Coruscant" when I was at the midnight showing of Phantom Menace when it premiered.

Course, studios hate taking the risk with stuff that doesn't already have name recognition...

Star Trek is definitely run into the ground thanks to Berman and Braga. While the reboot movie was entertaining I don't see much hope for the future of Star Trek.

Star Wars: unless Lucas finally decides to quit revising the classics and films them from scratch or makes ep 7 to 9 then Star Wars is also done, at least until his kids inherit the business. The EU novels kind of lost me with the Legacy series and I haven't been able to get into the Fate of the Jedi books.

As to Batman vs Joker, Joker is perhaps the most recognizable villain Batman has. though I did enjoy that they brought in Liam Neeson as Rha's Al Ghul. When the Batman movies get rebooted soon, will we get yet another Joker? Hope not as it has been done, and I don't want to hear about how the role is "cursed" because of what happened to Heath Ledger, but knowing Hollywood it will be brought up ad infinitum.

For a Batman reboot, I wouldn't mind seeing Penguin as basically the kingpin of Gotham City's crime families. Also they could bring back the Riddler and remove the blemish from that character left by Batman Forever. Perhaps Harvey Two Face Dent could actually be the sole villain for a movie and not a second string villain? Better yet, how about the Mad Hatter?

Or...and this is just a thought...

QUIT WITH THE REBOOTS!

How many frickin' times do we need to see their origin story? Just like with Spider-man. Continue on the dang franchise rather than hitting the reset button. Whoops, we made three movies, time to reboot that sucker and tell the same story ad infinitium instead of coming up with new stories.

But the reboot movies are exactly like the comics, so shouldn't be complaints from that angle...
