Didn't it use to be possible to die from falling damage, though? I remember hearing about how it was possible tom grief someone by inviting them to a team, then Recall Friending them up to the zone ceiling and letting them plummet to their deaths. I thought that was why they introduced the 'no falling death' mechanic.

I had a similar thing happen ages ago with a toon who had that heal power that also saps a bit of your own health? I can't remember whether it was my emp defender or not, but i was in Founders Falls and I'd just had a bit of a fight and was low on health, saw a toon having a fight a little way away, forgot i was low, ran over, healed him and dropped dead.

This also counts as an awesome 'heh...oops' moment.

I've been playing this game since shortly after the CoV launch.

About five minutes ago, I discovered the "Sell stack now" option while getting rid of a lot of common salvage, in stacks of 20-30.

My finger had been getting tired from all the click spamming...

Something similar happened to me as a "newb" moment: A friend of mine was already playing the game on and off when I started, and one evening we managed to log in at the same time and decided to team-up - him on his level 32 tank, me on my level 13 blaster as his sidekick.

We did a few missions, but after about an hour he had to go to work, so he bids me a good evening, and log off.

Problem was, we were in the middle of Independance Port. That wasn't a problem when he was side-kicking me, but now ?

I'm sure he did not do it on purpose, but as soon as he vanished all the Family mooks turned purple on me and I went "*gulp!* How am I going to get back to Steel Canyon ?"

So began a long race (or at least it seemed to me) hugging the middle of the street while left and right the bad guys were booing and yelling names and taking pot shots at me (or at least it seemed to me)...

I did this for the first time today. I will never again put that in my tray, ever. Zomg. I almost had a heart attack

On a second note, I LOVE YOUR SIG! OMGAWD! So cute! Had to say it.

For what it's worth, that was not an entirely uncommon mistake. I'm not exactly sure why, but you weren't alone.

I was deprived of a lot of the most "n00b" moments, because I was mentored in the game during the head start by multiple friends who had been in CoH beta from an early stage, and had one of the earliest character builders (Hero Planner) installed by first week of release. Don't mistake me - I'm absolutely positive I did some dumb, ignorance-driven things, but compared to most of the kinds of stories here, they were relatively arcane. Things like sub-optimal slotting choices, but not fundamental misunderstandings of how slotting worked. It may seem weird, but I feel like I missed out on an opportunity for nostalgic memories because of that.

It happened to me recently on a new character, although I was, in fact, trying to right-click said power to remove it from my tray at the time. So I self-destructed before I'd even moved right after character creation.

On the plus side, this reminded me to claim Return From Battle and put it in my tray at a relaxed moment rather than later in the middle of a team combat situation.

Nope. You've never been able to die from falling in the live game. What you're probably remembering was reports of people who would TP folks in midair above over-level spawns.
