FWIW, I've always gotten the best results at earning the Gold Ski Slope badges with Super Jump or the Zero-G pack. Speed Boost with them is a plus, but I've done it without the Boost as long as I used the Zero-G pack or SJ.
I'm curious to try the run this year with Afterburner and Fly. I've gotten silver with Fly before, and Afterburner's control might make it doable to earn gold.

Then last year, people here on the forums talked about how Inertial Reduction was the secret, and NOT the Speed Boosts that people insist on spamming at the top of the slopes. Control and speed is more important than raw speed, and once I finally dragged my favorite kineticist to the D when the slopes weren't busy (and filled with "helpful" Speed Boosters) I started collecting gold medals at a pretty rapid pace! Once I started getting used to having speed AND control, the "problem" became having to slow down just enough for the bronzes and silvers -- which is a far better problem to have than "what judge do I have to pay off for a gold medal?!?"

I'd like to see something completely new and different. Maybe curling. Or snow forts and snowball fights. How about frostbite debuffs if you aren't wearing any costume parts with fur?

both gold badges are doable with just Sprint and SJ (sprint with nothing slotted and SJ with 1 lvl 50 IO). @ lvl 50 all my toons do the expert run in 48secs just using these 2 powers. The 1st run can be done in 17.5 secs.
Even a level 27 character can get the gold badge for the basic run using sprint and a lvl 30 SJ IO. They would fall short by a couple of seconds though for the expert gold badge
