Any way around graphics driver check?
Still gettting this error even after today's patch. My drivers worked fine please fix this!
Open the NCSoft Launcher, right click City of Heroes, click properties, then in the "Extra command line parameters" add -ignoreBadDriver hit OK, then try to launch the game.

Since the fix was to prevent a crash caused with specific driver versions, your driver version may be one of the ones that is being excluded due to that crash.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
I just read the known issues in announcements. My Catalyst version is 11.1 that's what ASUS currently has up for DL and it wont let me in so its not limited to 9.12 drivers.

If you've used a driver sweeper (uninstall current video drivers, reboot into safe mode, run driver sweeper, reboot, re-install drivers) and continue to have this problem, then try adding the -ignoreBadDriver argument like Neo Shadowdream described.
After this morning's patch (11/15/11), I still received the same pop up message. I checked the forums, added the bad driver ignore to the extra command prompt as suggested. I still get the original pop up, followed by another pop up telling me to update my drivers or some of the video settings might not work, but then the game actually loads! I have to say, after almost a week of not being able to get into the game, Statesman facing off against IDF forces was a welcome sight to see. I still have to use the extra command line, otherwise the game still won't load.
I just tried testing this patch's fix. Logging in without the flag gave me the bad drivers popup still, and proceeding to the loginscreen still had the annoying red text.
I forgot to add to my previous posts that I've gotten the occasional in-game popup of "bad drivers you can't play" that boots you to the desktop. It seemed to happen when zoning, or adjusting my graphics settings(I've routinely played at Performance and lowered down to Minimum for iTrials and mothership raids, since the introduction of trials, not trying anything different).
I exited and applied the flag and launched without the popup, but the annoying text was still at the loginscreen. Only a real playtest when I feel like playing later will tell if the crash issue is fixed for me I guess.

Hi, I'd just like to update that the game is still unplayable on my laptop. The command parameter to bypass the driver check does nothing to help. It gives me the same error, attempts to load the game, then crashes.
Is there an ETA on a fix for this? It's been a week, and I'd really like a status update on this.
Made an AR/Dev blaster, had fun. Then ED came. AR/Dev sucked. Quit for two years. Came back for a while. AR/Dev still sucks. Quit after getting bored again. Came back. AR/Dev still sucks.
All I know is that I was playing fine on my old ATI 9600 graphics card on my PC for YEARS on performance and then going down to minimum on Hami-Raids and the like..
Since this last patch I crash A LOT while standing still in RWZ.. even if there are not a lot of people in zone...
Ever since that thing that tells me my drivers are out of date ( and I have the latest drivers possible for my card ) ive been crashing REPEATEDLY.. I mean a bad crash where it locks up my whole PC...
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
Julia_NA, have you tried the driver sweeper as I described in my previous post?
Airhammer, you are having a different problem and should start a new thread. The players in this thread have been locked out of the game and are trying to get back into the game. You might want to check[Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums.
I have attempted to install several new drivers on my ASUS laptop, all of which have made my system unstable and crash. Would running the driver sweeper software fix this?
If not, do you know of any drivers that would work on an ASUS G73Jh system that are compatible with the game? The card this laptop uses is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870.

It is possible that the issues you are having with different drivers may be cleared up by running the driver sweeper tool. That's why I asked and many helpful players here on the forums will ask the same thing.
It is also possible that your laptop will only work properly with the video drivers from ASUS. In which case, you need to ask them for newer drivers.
So, the game ran fine before the patch last week? And if you are crashing, are you sending in the crash reports? We do look at them and they have useful information for us to analyze and fix crashes.
I ran the driver sweeper, reinstalled the old drivers, and then attempted to reboot CoX. No go.
I gave up on working with the drivers and crap, so I just reformatted and reinstalled everything. Finally got it to work.
