I have been messing around with mids for quite a bit now and cannot seem to find the perfect balance of AOE, Perma pets, and tankability, anyone up for accepting the challenge? =D

Your gonna have to post your data chunk as titan network was compromised, so not all of it is back up.

I don't know if you can have perma pets with a defense cap crab unless your slotting 5 purple sets I think. Look for my postings under this forum I think Adeon Hawkwood had a build posted I commented on. Or it could be someone else, this is why I say search my name in this forum.

I created a range cap hover crab with perma pets though.

Stay at range and you should do fine. Not the best at tanking, but the pets are perma, and with them taking some aggro and your aoe shredding everything in a matter of seconds, you'll be fine. 40% ranged defense is still pretty good, and the resists are solid. Endurance will be your only issue really

This is very possible. You can cap all 3 positions and have perma pets (Spiderlings and Disruptors) and I have about ~10 second or so gap on my PPP pet (Leviathan). This is without Spiritual Alpha and no purple sets (I think I slotted 2 Soulbound in one of the pets).

For the pets, I use all 4 uniques (2 DEF and 2 RES) for maximum survivability of the pets (10% def and 20% res is not bad!). Right now, Spiderlings are perma, Disruptors are perma (4 seconds gap), but swapping one of the RES in the PPP for a 50 Rechage IO, you can get basically perma on that too (3 seconds or so gap). I don't mind the small gap because if you recast the power and the current pets are active, the power will just go into cooldown mode and do nothing..so that small gap prevents you from "wasting" it. (This may have changed recently, not sure.. but I doubt it) You also could use a few purple sets if you like..not sure what your budget is, and keep the RES IO.

Also, since the latest issue, I would drop SJ for Aim (I use Jetpack, hoverboard and ninja run for travel now), and drop Wolf Spider Armour for Longfang, or TT:Assault.

Build is a bit end heavy, but manageable (a single Rad, Kin, Cold, or any Destiny buffs make it a non issue). Not too great on single target, but hey.. it's a capped positional crab with perma pets

See this is what happens when your lazy, someone comes along and proves you wrong.

I think the good thing about the purple sets is you get the perma much sooner so it allows you more freedom to pick other powers. I like your build I would just like a few more AOE powers.

But without a doubt you pick up Barrier and now you and the pets are resistance capped as well. Its a great way to start a fight for sure.

For the sake of diversity, I thought I'd add my build into the mix; it's more a beastmaster/mobile artillery character than any sort of tank but it can take an alpha/sustained attacks and keep on going. I opted for Mace Mastery to get access to the Arachnobot Blaster (and keep things nice and thematic), and Shatter Armor - having eschewed any of the Crab melee attacks I found it handy to have something with decent ST damage (and -Res to stack with Venom Grenade). So far as the important Incarnate pools go, I'm working towards Cardiac Core Paragon (end drain was still something of an issue before I picked up Cardiac Boost) and Barrier Core Epiphany - everything else is debatable, but I'd recommend an Interface option with proc damage.

I'm working on my Pet Build as a secondary build. Finished in Mids, but like my main Build, it'll hover around 25+Bill inf, so i'm just saving sets and inf atm to start on it.

Perma Pets: All 6 of them, so yes, even the APP Blaster BS gave me, will be perma.
Def/Resist: Pretty darn good.
Tactic wise: Ranged offense, team buffs. When foe gets too close, my 6 Pets will eat him/her for lunch.

I like the build below, it sacrifices capping the positionals other than Range in favor of More AoE Damage, since I see the role of my Crab on a team basically being melting spawns. Hence double Assault and Aim over the Fighting pool, for example, and the Musculature Alpha (not shown). Its quite rare I die, even with an aggressive playstyle in trials, unless I get careless, so I consider that "enough" defense. Call Reinforcements is not quite perma, 9 seconds off with Hasten running, but in practice I've almost never found I *need* to resummon pets the second they recharge, I'm often busy blasting something right then anyway. Obviously for solo play you could do things like drop Recall Friend for Combat Jumping.

Hover Crab, Range cap. 19 seconds off on Call reinforcements and 5 seconds off on on Summon Blaster.

As a side note I am thinking if you can use the enhancement boosters on defense sets you might get away with not picking up one defensive power. Which might free up something to help you.

You will loose your 12 hit point bonus ( 24 total ) but you now have 2 slots to mess around with. If you do that with stamina as well you might have 3. What if boosted hasten IOs with 5 each as well. You would be over kill on the ED cap but nutshell messing around with those boosters might at last free up some slots to increase your dps in some powers.

Suppression and Venom are 3 slotted because I capped out on my 6.25 recharge rate.

Your build is not perma.

I also notice your build is 4 points short of range defense cap. Not the end of the world, but you could rearrange some of the powers and cap out your range defense at least.

Thanks but not looking to change a thing. I rarely get hit and when I do, i just hit the self heal which recharges faster then the pets do.
