Super Stength: Jab: Alternate Animation

I want to suggest giving Jab the Brawl animation as an alternate.

I can't believe that I'm the only one who wants the best punch animation in game (in my opinion) for Jab.

I also want to suggest giving us the Smite animation from Dark Melee for a Punch alternate animation.


Yes...I know that both the Brawl and Smite animation activate quicker than the current Jab and Punch animation, respectively...but I absolutely would not mind a slight pause after the animation...because I think having the options for these animations...with the Super Strength FX and sound FX...would be absolutely awesome.

Just imagine...Punch using the Smite animation...and knocking your foe off their feet. Need I say more?

Without meaning to sound snarky, it's hard for me to care what they do with Jab aesthetically while it remains such a terrible power to use mechanically. I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to it getting different animations, but I still wouldn't take it.

Well Tankers have to take it...

Anyways...this thread isn't about it's use mechanically...

It's about giving Jab and Punch alternate animations.

Yes, but to me, it is. The point I'm trying to make is that I do not care about Jab, thus I do not care what Jab does aesthetically. My *reason* for not caring about Jab happens to be based around it's mechanical applications, but the point still stands; I don't care about Jab. Until it is turned into a power that is worth using, I'll continue not to care about it.

In order for me to add my support for wanting additional animations for Jab, I'd actually have to want to *use* Jab first.

OR you could support someone else's desires even if you have no interest in them simply for the fact you'll be helping someone else find happiness even if you have nothing to gain from it yourself besides the satisfaction of making another human being happy. It costs you nothing and in a small way makes the world a better place by showing support for your fellow human being!

If you don’t care about what happens aesthetically to Jab…then why come here and openly object to something I…and hopefully others may want…if you “don’t care”…?

...and again...Tankers have use for it.

I agree.

The animations for those early attacks have put me off making a Superstrength character several times recently. Brawl and Smite are excellent alternatives.

I'm all for more options, but I like the current alternate Jab animation far more than Brawl's animation. Not least of which because it actually looks like a jab.

I've wanted Brawl's animation for Jab for the longest time. I don't like either of its current options.


Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Because... If time is spent giving different animations to jab... then less time is spent... on making powers like jab viable... which is a change I'd rather be implemented first... You need... to understand... that every single thing... that takes time to do... takes time from something else...

I may have to take Jab on my Tankers, but that doesn't mean I will use it.

Furthermore, you were asking why nobody seemed to care enough to support your proposition. I was giving you a reason why.

The time you spend here objecting to a suggestion you care nothing about is time less spent on you coming up with a suggestion for making powers like jab "viable"

I happen to like Jab just the way it is mechanically. I take it and use it on my Brute. It's even better mechanically on a Tank with bruising.

Also...I never asked why...I just said I couldn't believe I was the only one.

You're right, it's a terribad power, I never take it on my brutes, I don't even know what the animation is, but Tankers have to take it and they make good use of it because of bruising, the only Tanker I have uses Thunder Kick a lot, a power I'd have skipped on other toon.

So while I don't care about the power like you, I can see Tanker players wanting a better animation for it if it's that bad.

You should use it; on tankers it debuffs enemy resistances by 20%. It's really nice.

That ain't how it works. Adding a new animation to a power is the animation department. Changing the stats of a power is the powers team. Spending time making new animations takes minimal to no time from the ability to change the power.
