Crafted costume piece after license runs out?

Here's a question that has popped up on the help channel and I didn't have an answer for them.

If you craft a costume piece, either while VIP or with Invention License, and then drop to premium or the license runs out, do you still keep the costume piece or will it drop off your current costume? And can you change the costume without losing it?

i would think once you crafted it then its permanently available since celestial armor and ascension armor are both VIP only things but can be usable as a non VIP if you have it unlocked

Not necessarily. The Armors are simply a purchase. Yes, they are a purchase that can only be made while VIP, but they are still a purchase.

The costume pieces crafted from Recipes use the Invention system. Since we know that IO's crafted and slotted become gray once you drop from VIP status(without the Reward status or the license), it seems highly likely that other crafted pieces (costume pieces and temp powers) would fall under the same code structure and be unavailable. Or they may stay on the character but not have the visual animations (grayed out portion) or similar.

Likewise, would you be able to select those in the character creator if you had crafted them while VIP but not put them into a costume?

I have a second account that should be going Premium in a few days. I think I'll have to craft some temp powers and costume pieces on that account to test and then report back once he's gone Premium.

I'll do two costume pieces with one in a costume and one just crafted so that I can tell.

When I first came back as a premium, my various wings and whatnot were intact on my characters. You wont lose them for going to premium.

I had faerie wings on one character and tech wings on another that I logged in and definately saw were working before I upgraded to VIP.

I didnt try changing the costume while premium, but I would be very surprised if these were locked out.

You wont be able to build new ones for other characters mind you.

Sounds good. I pointed the person asking the question to this thread, so hopefully they've got their answer.

Good. That will save me the bother of emailing recipes and salvage to my second account, creating a costume I won't use, waiting for the account to go premium and then checking out the costume pieces (outfitted and merely crafted).

You don't craft the piece so much as craft the unlock.
