This Weekend's New Superheroic Animations 10/21/11

So far very awesome eps of Generator Rex, Young Justice, Batman The Brave and the Bold - LMAO (Aquaman musical portion nearly killed me)


Ben 10 Ultimate Alien is coming up here on the West coast..

Missed nearly all of Gen Rex except the very last minute, finally it looks like a serious episode, wish they do more of them.

Young Justice - This show should win something, I haven't seen a bad episode yet. Looks like they found someone that interests Robin.

Batman - Finally back to the ultra short pre-opening story. I agree that the Aquaman musical sequence was a laugh riot. Still trying to mind wipe the image of him as Black Canary.

Ben 10 - Brings back another old foe/creepy love interest. I wish they would make up their mind between a more mature Ben like in the past few episodes instead of the stuck up self important Ben. Especially when it involves his relationship with Julie. At least Kevin's seem to have a reasonable handle on his relationship with Gwen.

Star Wars - Repeat of the 1st episode this season. I'm starting to lump three-p-o in with Jar Jar as least favorite characters to build an episode or two around.

Something sorta off-putting about teenaged Zatanna. Her spells are also a lot easier to understand in print.

I liked Zatanna but really? She just steps in and immediately is like Robin's perfect girlfriend? Don't need the whole love/hate things of Kid Flash and artemis or the same dynamic as Megan/Superboy, but it's like she just walked on screen and it was instant kismet. *shrug*

As for Brave and the Bold... Enjoyed it but thought it a bit odd they didn't really show off Batman deserving to be an A-lister at all.

I think from Robin's perspective, she's a target of opportunity. Nearly everyone else has essentially paired up on the team, even if Kid Flash and Artemis don't know it yet. I imagine Robin is feeling a bit third wheel. It's not like he can have a normal relationship with someone at school. IIRC even team doesn't know is real identity.

Also I imagine she's probably in a similar situation, being a daughter of a super hero. It also doesn't hurt that she can hold her own in a fight and has a bit of a rebellious streak against authority, like the rest of the team.

(Yes I know Kaldur isn't paired up with anyone but he's the mature brooding leader whose girlfriend back home has moved on.)

I just checked the schedule for next week and they have made a few changes. Batman: The Brave and the Bold is having a premiere, and ThunderCats are back with new episodes next Friday.

The next episode of ThunderCats is called Berbils. Can't wait to see the new take on the classic ThunderCats allies.

One thing I like about Young Justice is the Rebel without a Cause spin it has. They keep thinking that everything the League does is to keep them from growing to be heroes in their own right, but each episode they realize little by little that no one is actually keeping them from it. I kind of wonder what will happen when they eventually figure out, one of the League members is younger then they are.

I'm pretty sure Zatanna's spells are still backwards. I remember hearing the last word for her change costume spell was "kool".

Oh, they're definitely still backwards. It's just that, in actual speech, she pronounced some of the vowels oddly and sometimes the words ran together. I guess that could explain why less people get what her spells are in-universe, since it isn't as glaringly obvious as reading them on a page.

Big fan of YJ, but Im not loving them turning my guy Shazam into a "you want me to grab you some chips...huh? huh? HUH?" lil dude lol.

This Robin is 13 years old. New roiling hormones equate to him latching onto the first available girl that is even a semi-good match for him.
