Invuln Brutes - skip Unstoppable?

I've been gone a few years so apologizes in advance.

Question: Is it a good idea for Invuln brutes to skip Unstoppable?

I've been looking at Invuln posts/builds on the forum and I see a lot of advice for Invuln brutes to skip unstoppable because (I think) you can get 45% S/L defense?

I've never made a defense based Invuln so I can't talk from experience but I really like having an OH BLEEP button when things really get tough.

And having the Speed pool Burnout Power with a lot of Global Recharge would allow Unstoppable to be used more often, yea?

Just looking for opinions.

Thanks.

Most would say to skip it. Once you have perma Dull Pain and you can soft cap def with one in range of Invincible the situations in which Unstoppable are useful dwindles fairly quickly.

With that being said if you like the power and enjoy having it as a oh Pancake button then take it as a one slot wonder and call it a day.

Most skip unstoppable because of how hard it crashes.

On Invuln you can get 45% S/L/E/N/F/C defense. This coupled with great S/L resists and pretty good other resists means you don't ever really need Unstoppable either.

I think the answer will be the dreaded "It depends"

Unstoppable give you resistance not defense.

More then likely Invulnerability toons will have their resistance to Smashing/Lethal at the cap so hitting unstoppable for that does nothing. However unstoppable gives all resistance except psionics so it still may be useful for fire/cold/energy/negative/toxic. Invulnerability gives you a good base for these but more then likely you are in the 20-40% range so hitting unstoppable would make a big difference if you are fighting those damage types.

In addition it will boost your recovery and status protections (while this may seem unnecessary there are some big mag powers out there that can burn through standard status protection).

Of course this all comes with a crash after 3 minutes.

It is a very nice "Oh No!" power and can function fine with the base slot. If you are not hurting for power choices then by all means keep it. If you need powers however this is a good one to drop since its benefits are very situational.

It is a nice power to pick, if you have room, though because you can drop the Steadfast unique into it and then never spare any additional slots on it.

And then you have it there for 'just in case'.

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

R.I.P.
Chyll - Bydand - Violynce - Enyrgos - Rylle - Nephryte - Solyd - Fettyr - Hyposhock - Styrling - Beryllos - Rosyc
Horryd - Myriam - Dysquiet - Ghyr
Vanysh - Eldrytch
Inflyct - Mysron - Orphyn - Dysmay - Reapyr - - Wyldeman - Hydeous

I originally used it for the Steadfast unique. But I dropped it a while ago. I almost never used it since my my character is IO'ed out.

I guess I'm the lone dissenter.

Required? No.

Would I skip it? No.

The crash is onerous, but nothing 1 blue and Dull Pain can't handle. I like having the ability to cap everything except Psi while having 45%+ Defense. Again, it isn't necessary, but when you absolutely need it, it is there for you.

You realize when you start IO Enhancing you won't even need it right, hell with SO's and weave/tough you've sofcapped your resistances.

Well, you'll get high S/L, but that's a far cry from hard-capping your resistances.

Unstoppable is useless on a scrapper (lolz 75 percent, might as well be paper if yer in deep enough to need unstoppable). Unstoppable is near-useless on a tanker (if an INV TANK needs to hit unstoppable, there are bound to be better tools available to do much the same thing without a crash.(cough barrier))

On a brute, you get low E/N/F/C resists due to scrapper numbers combined with huge caps. So, on a brute, the benefit from popping unstoppable might, MIGHT, be worth it. I frequently will toss it in and mule something in it if there's no better use for the slot. It REALLY makes a Brute sturdy. Like, OMG tough.

Also, if you do take it, Unstoppable works fine with only the base slot.
