Help Channel

Since Freedom's launch, the Help channel has exploded, really, and I tjink that the kind of stuff we see in it gives good insight into how Freedom has worked so far:

Loads more players trying out the game. This is good.
Loads of helpful vets happy to give advice, answer questions, help new players out. This is also good.

New players have LOTS of questions about stuff that they should have grasped from the game. Level 8 players asking 'where do I get Power Pools?', talking about 'quests' and 'skills', and worst of all, seemingly unaware that anything more than the DFB trial exists for low levels.

It looks to me that new players are not learning much from the 'tutorial' or Twinshot's arc because the 'tutorial' is terrible and they're missing Twinshot because of two things: they're getting sucked into grinding the DFB arc, and even if they do try to do tje ongoingbtutorial content, when Twinshot sends them to KR to speak to Blue Steel, wjen they get there they're directed to The Detective Becktree instead and end up grinding radio missions.

Help is also fast becoming a general 'lfg' channel, I've noticed. I've used it for this myself, when trying to form a lowbie group, since after broadcasting in Atlas and getting 3 or 4 responses, I know that the f2p newbies I'm hoping to team with (both to help them out with anything they need and because it's fun) can't respond save for in Help, if they're not near me at the time.

There are already vague opposing camps of 'Help is only for help' and 'it's a chat channel' players. It would be a shame to see Help adfing to divisiveness among the playerbase.

Overall, I'm happy to see Help being so busy, I think; it means our game is being played, at least.

Well let's be honest, the "tutorial" is *NOT* a tutorial, it's an intro. The first 4 contacts are, partially at least, the tutorial but are also flawed in that a) They don't cover all the important stuff, b) they get diverted by the detective/broker and c) It's easy to outlevel them all if you're DfBing.

Also, what's going on with Lv20 and the power pools? Who's been feeding what misinformation to the newbies? Because I've had a lot of people asking in help to be Power Levelled to 20 so that they can "get all the pool powers", which makes no sense to me and nobody I've asked about it seems to know *why* people are asking for this.

It does seem that, among the helpful chaps, are spread out griefers purposely misleading new players.

I've seen numerous players asking how to get to 50 the fastest so they can be ViP...
I've seen numerous players asking what the next 10 level trial is after DFB, like they expect every 10 levels to fly by in one 20 minute trial...
I've seen a few players asking how to collect gear off corpses because they were told it wasn't obvious and they were missing great rewards...
I've had a few players quit on me when, half way through a standard mission, they expressed dissatisfaction with not having Dinged in the last 10 minutes, at level 16-18...

I just chalk it up to;
1. There have always been and always will be 'Griefers'.
2. We're seeing it more obviously now because of the influx of players needing help and being forced to use one channel to get it.

I've expressed my opinion on the low level experience in the Tutorial feedback thread so I won't bother reposting, just know that you aren't the only one seeing this and having a bit of a worry over it.

Nobody here wants an AEBabies part deux.

Actually I ran into some info or feedback about the power pools which was not so much about having to be a certain level, it was more about the selection process.

It's also something I encountered when respeccing...perhaps too quickly or without paying much attention.

First off, you must click the power pool option and then select the pool. Then you select the power which highlights. and then you hit next, which brings you too your entire power selection list.

I have noticed that because power pools/Travel powers in other games are a freebie that some new players select "Hover" for example. Then when promted back to their entire powers option list, they choose a new attack. This overwrite their purchase of hover, and they hit next not realizing that you actually need to purchase hover as a select power by hitting next again.

In some cases people have mentioned that they have had to wait until all the powers for their level have become unavailable before they were allowed to pick a pool power. Which I corrected for them in the help channel.

Without being able to chat or use even rudimentary functions of chat we are unlikely to see anything but LFG spam, and rightly so. Other games have a free chan or a trial channel for this purpose, and I think a Free Player channel might be the solution to the ever growing amount of players.

Also, new players seem to like helping each other out, and while this is good, they also provide misinformation. This is not because they are not potential amazing players, but I think because much content is unavailable to them (Which is fine and Im ok with this) but they still like to share their "Free" experience. The only thing is that the info they give is wrong.

Sadly on Virtue, I see a lot of help chan advice being given by new players to new players, and then watch old VIP's rip them a new one. This I have an issue with as much as spammers LFG.

I mean...I get you are a VIP...and as a bartender I meet VIP's all the time. Most of them are bloody bumholes, and It seems that trend is passing down to many VIPS who spam their infinite wisdom on Help Chan...and no...no...you are not helping! Instead between a sea of new people and duplicate questions, our filler is bad banter, poor behavior, know-it-all attitudes and general bullying.
