The contest sounds like a blast, and I'm AMAZED at what you guys did on a shoestring budget. I'm gonna spend half my week-end figuring out how you did some of those things... And the other half replicating parts of it in our base.

One thing that sorta bugs me though - in some of the videos, I see entrance portals in very big rooms... I was under the impression that it could only be placed in teh 2x2 "entrance" room. Did I miss yet another update to teh editor that would change that or did you guys just work some secret mojo I'm unaware of?

optical illusion... smoke and mirrors...

a few tricks....
tuck the entrance in a corner (with the new rotation control, you can tuck it even closer to the walls.... just be careful not to clip it outside of the walls).
raise the entrance
open doors on 2-3 sides of the room

Suddenly, it will seem that you have much more space...

Congratz all, I would like to hear what the Devs and/or CS reps thought about what was done.

Thanks to everyone that participated and to base builders as a whole

I must say, judging these bases was very difficult and a lot of fun. It was a real treat to get to see what people could come up with and the methods in which they did it in, not to mention time frame -- all of course with fixed funding.

Major props to the builders!!

As MP said, we will definitely be back soon™ with another event for builders and more to come after that.

I went ahead and bought my contest base (its the one with the pirate ship) so if anyways wants a tour just let me know its not awesome like some of the other people that were in the contest but it's sure to give a giggle
I really liked this contest because i dont really have alot of experience with base building but it got me into it to see what i can do Plus i met a few awesome players that i have now claimed as my BFFs after this hehe.
I really liked how it was across the servers. I think it would be neat if we had a contest where you designed a room or sm base to represent a theme based off ur server name.
I also would like to see a base contest where it was the most evil/spooky VG you could make
TY for doing this contest it was a blast!
KISSY!

I'm always amazd at what you're all able to accomplish with the base editor but really, with 300k, you've managed to construct marvels of architecture! Well done to the winners but also to all of you who were able to let your inspiration loose, and thank you to PERC for organising an original contest to showcase base creations!

I've mentioned it before, but can't resist plugging it one last time...

BaseBuildersInc.

It is an open chat channel, anyone can join without an invite, and many of the best base builders in the game hang out there. I think the majority of the contestants for this event have popped up there from time to time. We are constantly giving and requesting tours there, not just of the contest bases, but for some of their main and home bases. Just search channels, type in the name as above (the period IS part of the name) and then join.

Just shout-out in the channel and ask if anyone is hosting a tour, or, if you see someone posting there that has a base or PERC contest entry you want to see, just ask them if you guys can arrange a time to meet up.

It is also a great place to get tips or inspiration for any of your own base building projects. And if you are the type that would rather sit back and watch a renovator work than a do-it-yourselfer, many of the Basers that hang out there will do basework-for-hire. Some will even give toutorials or will explain how some of their designs were made. It is a good alternative to posting an ad on the boards for such services. Also, many of the Basers are willing to visit your base and offer you some tips or suggestions to spruce up your home, if you'd like some advice of that nature. Just ask in that channel if someone is on that can give you some tips or design help. We do get busy from time to time, so you many have to ask a few times.

I'm on there "pretty much" daily, and am more than willing to show anyone that wants to see it my PERC contest base. I have bought War's Mine Ride... OF DOOM!!! (I really want to give a HUGE THANK-YOU to the PERC Peoples for giving us that option!) and I will be keeping it in tact, open year round, and will offer tours any time anyone wants to see it. Just hunt me down on the channel and we will work out the details for a tour time. If I am free, I'll even do it on the spot.

Thank you again to PERC for hosting this event, and I can't wait until the next one. I still can't believe that I won over some of the amazing other bases in my category, and I can honestly say that viewing all the entries, taking all the tours, and getting to meet a lot of the other Basers that were in the contest was the best part of the whole thing. I think this contest has gone a long way towards supporting, growing, and raising awareness of the Baser community, and we can't thank PERC enough for that.

Seriously, a huge heartfelt thanks to MP, Arkyaeon, SupaFreak, and all the other PERC Peoples, to all those that participated in the contest, and all the new friends I have made as a result of it.
