Fire/Time Looking for feedback

So the new mids is here and I got to play with it a bit this morning. I have loved leveling my fire/time corr (currently lvl 46) and first thing I did was have a go at making up a build.

Should warn you I am not experienced at the number game so there maybe lots of mistakes. Be kind The build is for PvE content. I took Hover as I just find it easier in the trials to have it, even though Times Junc means I will be close to the action. and not Hover blasting.

Goals:-

- Softcap def
- As much recharge as possible.
- Recovery. Fire and Time both seem to be end pigs so I am building for as much end reduc and +recov as possible.

Known issues:

- I know several positions are over soft cap, but unsure of how to reduce them without major
- Cant seem to get Chrono to perma. Is this correct? Or am I just not trying hard enough?

Anyways, here is the build:

you need to rethink a bit i say you spending all that money and you wont even be softcapped for most of the time seems a bit pointless to me

Not sure what you mean. PBU and Farsight both have enough recharge to make it perma. Is this what you were meaning?

seems a bit pointless to me

Isn't it when Farsight is cast PBU needs to be active? Not constantly. As it stands PBU is ready everytime I go to click FS. This should keep me capped as long as I keep my eyes on the button

You're correct Swifty, Farsight will provide the full Powerboosted defense value for its duration as long as PB is active when you cast Farsight.

All the other defense-providing toggles like Weave/Maneuvers/Hover/CJ/etc will only provide their PBd defense values for the duration of PB. So to be fully softcapped all the time, you need a) enough recharge for PB to be up whenever you need to cast Farsight and b) enough defense from your other stuff unPBd in conjunction with PBed Farsight.

Powerboosted and ED slotted PB provides 22ish % defense, so you need about 23% defense from your other stuff when PB isn't active.

Ah, thanks for that bit of info. Hadn't thought about PBU boosting CJ, Hover and weave. So still about 5% melee, 2% range and 1% AoE short.

Not sure how to fix that though. Any suggestions?

I'm still messing with builds myself. Got 22% melee and ranged, which leaves me at 44.4% with PB Farsight. I don't mind not softcapping AoE, but I'm sure its possible.

Think I cracked it. Def is now 23.3 / 23.3 / 22.7, which with the 22.4 from PBU'd FS I am at cap to all positions.

Had to lose a bit of recovery tho so switched to cardiac instead of the planned musc. Shame. would have liked the +dmg.

Looks good, only a few small things I'd tweak.

I'd frankenslot Chrono Shift with Heal/Recharges and End/Recharges. You'll be able to get good heal/endmod numbers for a minimal recharge hit. Especially given the level of recharge in the build, I feel its best to enhance the healing and endmod on CS too.

I'd swap the dam/range HO in Blaze for a simple end rdx IO. Blaze can have its range enhanced by Cardiac and the Apoc set gives plenty of damage enhancement by itself. I'd also swap the straight DAM Apoc for the proc. Ditto for Fireball.

Other than that looks solid to me

Ok, made the suggested changes. I see what you mean about swapping for procs.

One more tweak I did make was a def IO in hover. This gives me a bit more to all and means I am not quite so on the line. Only way I could see to do this was with on of the IOs in PBU. I don't see this as an issue as although it now take 6 secs longer than FS to recharge, at 37.39s both are still well within the 120s duration of FS.

I noticed you are going with soul for yours. Had a look at the build and liked it. Soul drain will prob add a lot of nice orange numbers, but as I plan to be hero would take to long to go hero > vigi > villain > get patron arc > rogue > hero. (Not to mention having to do it all again (minus the arc) should I want to respec.

Any other thoughts / suggestions?

Only have to go redside once, Swifty...just prepare for it...

Get all the way to vigilante, and just have to do morality. Save going villain untill the next day.

Do morality, do 5 rogue tips, do the arc...next day you're a rogue. It goes by quick.

Wait a second.... IF you go redside to get a patron power, and then go back to blueside, and THEN do a respec, do you lose your redside patron power?

If so, then that's out of the question for myself. I am always tweaking.... continually changing builds. (I have a lot of vet specs). I can't imagine going through that over and over..... I've been tempted for Scorp's shield with my Dual Pistols, but now I know.

I will say your build looks good... I took some 'fun' powers, and have pretty darn good ranged def, and decent AOE, but it's not min/maxied.

Call me crazy but I skipped Fighting pool (went leadership instead) and have been having fun with the new Flight Pool powers!

I can't confirm, but I thought this was how it worked. Will test on my hero MM today and get back to you.

Also, you have no idea how tempted I am to drop aim and temp selection because of how much I have fallen for afterburner when travelling.

Errrmmm..

Did state at the start end would be an issue and wanted more recharge but wasn't sure how to get it without making the defence suffer. The point of this thread was to get feedback and suggestions as I have not attempted build making before. If you have a suggestion on how to do this please share.

As an aside. Thanks to the help for the other so far. Big help. Have learnt alot so far in this experiment in numbers

Fixing the end will be quite hard with the approach you and seemingly most people with you that I've seen so far took on getting def. It will be much easier to get all the numbers right if you settle for softcapped S/L/E def purely from powerpicks.
At least get all the accolade autos if you go on with this.

One thing I would at least change in that last build you posted is swapping the slots in RoF and Fireball. Fireball recharges fast anyway. RoF will be a hell of a lot better that way.

By S/L/E I take it you mean scorp shield right? Still pretty much against using a PPP die to reasons given above, but will think about it. I can see how it would remove the need for lots of other powers.

Your able to pick up Conserve Power in your power choices.

Grab the passive accolade +END.

And imo softcapped to all positions is better than S/L/E. And taking the Mace Shield is lowering your survival, since you can softcap the positional, and get added resists.

M/R/A defense + a resist shield is better than S/L/E defense without a resist shield.
