So I attempted a +4/x8 ITF Solo
Alpha Slot T3+ and +1 Ultimate Inspirations, will put Rommy and his cronies at +2, that's the easiest answer.
The trick to the healing nictus is to cap defense, that heal requires a to-hit check, I'd say a steady stream of purples to cap you off. If you're capped, and everything you bring to the fight is capped, you can ignore the healer. Well at least once you kill everything else in the area that's feeding it.
Next trick is to keep your pets out of the auto-hit, and keep yourself alive. Demonic will help for a minute, but then you need oranges. The Lore pets (should) have 50% AoE defense, so should be ok as far a feeding the healing nictus. You'll need ranged pets, at least for the first kill, then you can switch to melee ones. Clockwork, Drones, etc.
Third, ANYTHING in range feeds the healing nictus, including the ambushes. You'll have to clear each ambush, then start the cycle all over again. That first kill may easily take an hour as you have to essentially start over after every ambush. One mistake, and you loose another 15 minutes. One lost connection and you get to start the entire 2:30 ordeal over, a good reason to login a second account on another machine to hold the mission open.
The last mission alone may take 2:30 if you're lucky to 4:00 if you're unlucky.
Other things you can do:
Outsmart the AI, Leap into and out of range timing the Auto-hit, I've seen this done amazingly well. Just a little bounce in/out with CJ, that barely takes a second, each time the Auto-hit cycles. It's a beauty to watch.
Bend Geometry, pull Rommy to a corner that keeps the Nicti tame, in range, but just out of LOS. It's hard to do, but doable.
Break the AI and get the Nicti stuck somewhere they can't reach you.
Last, don't be surprised if you do need to change your build, just for the one mission, I ended up using all three of my available build slots.
if you pull rommy off the platform into the grassy areas then the ambushs will not appear until you go onto the platform after the ambush trigger criteria has gone off

This seems like fun... might try it out when I get some time
I'm still getting the hang of my SS/FA, but I don't see how you handle large groups of cimoreans and their huge amounts of defense debuffs.
I only sit at 32.5% s/l and large groups of cimoreans rip through me pretty quickly when I'm the sole center of attention. Even with healing flames and mitigation from footstomp I find them to be a challenge at +0/8
How do you manage these groups?

Well, 45% S/L helps for a start. Granted the build I have is pretty expensive.
If the group was exceptionally large I'd have to use a purple. You're not gonna get through this without purples running 0% DDR. Most of the time I could just obliterate the minons before they got a shot off. I died sometimes to cascading defense failure, but I kind of expected that out of SS/FA.
Linea, thanks for the tips. Your thread on the scrapper forms was my inspiration.

At 32.5 I keep 1 or 2 purples running all the time and don't have an issue with Cim's at +4.

- Yes, I global emailed myself inspirations of all types.
- I also have an alt account that can do so on the fly.
- I also have /auctionhouse or /toggle auction (works places the official version doesn't) to restock between battles. Buy them up and store them ahead of time. I never used it during battle, so I'm not sure if you can mid battle. The unofficial version "/toggle auction" may work mid-battle, I'll have to test that later.
- I kept a constant flow of purples for ~70 defense all, also I could kite and still do damage when needed. A scrapper/brute can do this with the Combat Jumping Method.
- I also used ultimate inspirations when needed. Turned out I didn't need them as much as I thought. I could probably do completely without them if I wanted to do it again. But, that first time around, I needed all the edges I could get as I learned the tricks.
Did you global mail yourself a bunch of orange inspirations as a reserve?
|
Didn't think of that. Didn't really need them for the rest of the tf, I'd just stock on purples and use ~50% of them through the mission.
I think I could do it if I did that, will have to try some time.
Does the old jump at Rommy trick still work where the nictuses dont follow? Keep him in LoS of them and its just like fighting Rommy by himself.

Not sure what this trick was. I just came back about a month and a half ago and this is my first 50 to play around with.
I think I'll give this another shot this weekend or next weekend (depending on when I have time) and hopefully take him down with the advice offered.
I'm sad to say I couldn't get Rommy down in the end. I feel like it's very possible I was doing something wrong, so just looking for some tips.
My main problem was the auto hit aoe essence. I could heal it fine by itself, but if Rommy got a hit in too, it started to go badly.
I should say, I was using oranges to try to reduce the damage, and that worked for a while, but with the healing I couldn't get him down before I ran out of oranges, at which point death was close by. I'd also drop a purple if Rommy debuffed me.
I've done a 3:00 pylon kill without pets and I feel like this is something I should be able to do. +0 was easy enough and after doing +4 I don't think +3 would be a problem either.
I tried my lore pets and it just made the healing essence go berserk.
Again perhaps I just suck, but if anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.
My build: t4 ageless is used for endurance management. I realize I could work in a heavier healing build, but that wouldn't be too necessary for much else.
