*raises hand* I have a stupid question! (screen resolution)
First, to be sure, when you're selecting "1920x1080 (desktop)", you're clicking okay, then immediately closing CoH and then restarting it?
If yes, then we go from there

2 points.
Further down the list should be a standard screen resolution listing that is identical but without the (Desktop) on it try that, as they recently added (i21) a windowed/fullscreen on the fly toggle which may be causing your (Desktop) mode issues.
Additionally, the loading screens are currently stuck in a 4:3 format.
You may want to download a slightly older driver, uninstall the current driver, run Driver Sweeper, and then install the older driver.
Since this began after the driver update, I'd start with looking at the driver.
EDIT: You may also have a corrupted driver installation from the update. Please follow the steps in Hyperstrike's [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread and start a new thread in the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs forum section.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

There was no okay, just apply now and cancel changes. Although assuming you meant "apply now" when I do it auto-kicks me down to the next resolution and sets that in the options. However I did as you said (it auto-kicked down, but I restarted) and you did manage to bring up the original error message I got when I started the game up after updating my driver.
"Resolution 1920 x 1080 not supported in fullscreen mode. Defaulting to 800 x 600
This thing pops up before the loading screen, and then the game loads just fine except it is in 800x600. Now I know it is lying, and I know some of you know it is lying, but it keeps saying it and sooner or later I am going to start believing there are five lights!
No, my list ends at 1600x1024
I know about the loading screen, but thank you.
I might just try rolling back to save myself the headache, but I was hoping I was merely missing something obvious or a hidden button (obviously hidden button?)
And I am so sorry for posting on the wrong forum. This should not be broken and it got me so flustered I obviously jumped in the first help forum I saw on the list.
If you install a new driver then experience problems it is most likely the drivers fault. Personally I never install the latest drivers. I think I am still running of the 260.xx drivers.

Some of the people that hang out in that forum section and help people with Tech Issues refuse to come to this forum section at all. For quite a while I was one of them.

I'm not saying this to be mean or to nitpick or anything like that. I am simply honestly amused that the first help forum you saw on the list was the SECOND help forum on the list, meaning you skipped a help forum called Technical Issues when looking for assistance on your technical issue.

The subtext for development does list "Issues & Bugs", but that listing seems short, less prominent, and in the middle of other seemingly unrelated topics.
I think the forums could do with a link to the Tech Issues & Bugs forum under Player Help, or at least a sticky under Player Questions, indicating where users might be able to get more prompt and accurate technical assistance.

You know, the one that reads as follows:
Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs Discuss gameplay / technical issues or bugs here! This is NOT a forum where official technical/QA support is available. For technical assistance email support@coh.com. |

I'm sure they are going to reorganize the forums if they open a free player section. Maybe they should move Technical Issues/Bugs into the Player Help forum while they are screwing around with stuff.
I am sorry for wasting anyone's time, but considering the title of this post and if you are on the forums anyways clicking stuff like that then you time is not really wasteable, huh? (( Unless you fix my problem, in which case your time is super valuable and you are very handsome/pretty and thank you very much in advance and whatnot *nod nod* ))
Short version: My client no longer wants to run in 1920x1080 fullscreen resolution.
Long Version: Every time I try to select it (listed as "1920x1080(desktop)) it kicks me down to the closest one on the pre-set list which is 1600x1200... or was it 1024... well, it is -not- what I want. I went digging through the forums and know that the game supports wide-screen resolutions and goes that high if not higher. Not to mention that was the resolution I was running as of yesterday morning
The problem began when I updated my NVidia driver (updating my graphics driver has always been the best way for me to break something followed closely by audio drivers)
Windows 7
Nvidia GeForce GTX 465 (Driver version 280.26)
So.... there you have it. I promise I have done at least a part of my due diligence and ran several searches through the forums and clicked lots of random buttons in game, but this does not seem to be an issue and it should not be an issue and I have no idea why it is an issue which is what is driving me so insane...... fix it... please. Well, more accurately tell me how to fix it.
I know you guys usually want a diagnostic of some kind but this is such a dinky little drive a person insane because they forgot to flip the giant switch labled "I fix your problem" right over there problem. I am just hoping someone knows where that switch is right off the bat.... or hockey stick... oh! Tennis racket! ... no, I think I would prefer hockey stick.
