Tough turnips. The devs have told us that it invalidates all the work they put into making the game alt friendly. So get used to rolling up new characters.

The OP said that it would be a simple change, when in fact it is impossible to do without a complete rebuild of the game. Seems like a perfect use of the Standard Code Rant.
No, the SCR says we don't know how much work it would take. Could be easy, could be hard, but we don't know since none of us are programmers, haven't seen the code, and the Devs aren't talking. But in this case, we do know it would take a huge amount of work, basically re-writing the game as Memphis_Bill points out (And I would say making a copy & paste would be a good idea Bill), so the SCR doesn't apply.

OTOH, the SCR does apply to FredrikSvanberg's later idea, since we don't know how much work it would take to implement. (I would guess a lot more than he thinks, but SCR. :shrug

Sorry Justice but the SCR always applies. That's what makes it so awesome.

Frankly it'd be a little crummy to be able to respec your origin without being able to respec which Vet combat powers you chose.

Sadly I think there are just too many "ramifications" to ever make origin respecs something that would be easy to do.
If what temp power is the only worry, I'd say "Oh well" I mean, it only matters in the early levels and not even then.

I don't see many people actually use them in the early levels, and I see less use them in the later levels (this isnt to say I dont see them in use mind you).

Well, I will certainly concede it always applies for me any time I am talking about how the game works and changes it should have. But not so much when say Arcanaville is talking about how the defense system works and changes that should be made in it. It's all relative.

The problem is that it's -not- just the Vet combat powers you'd have to worry about. I thought my post was making it clear that there'd be multiple "gotchas" related to what would have to be changed/fixed in order to allow Origin respecs to happen without any problems. Obviously the fact that the Devs have not bothered with it yet shows us that allowing for Origin respecs would be anything but trivial to do.

P.S. For what it's worth I have several Controllers who still regularly use things like the Blackwand even at level 50. Sure most people only use them as low-level attack chain fillers but that doesn't mean no level 50s use them.

I had the same thought over the weekend when I found that a character I was on that I thought was mutation couldn't buy a mutatation IO and I was so confused. My costume and concept has nothing to do with technology - not sure what I was thinking.....

That's nice. How much would you be willing to pay to make it worth their while? Please note that depending on just how hard it is for them to fix on their end, and how much (or little) demand they expect for such a service, your share of the cost may be rather large.

If implemented, I think the easiest system would be to not let you equip any more enhancements of the old origin, but keep the ones equipped still functional. This is so the old origin would be weeded out over time. If they are already level 50, then it isn't really an issue any more, or shouldn't anyway.
Man my grammar and writing is horrible sometimes. *Fixed*
