Spring Attack

I’ve not seen any posts about Spring Attack yet and I don’t think MIDs is fixed for I21 yet. This spring attack could be just what I am looking for! I have a DM/WP scrapper and I took blaze because I needed some AoE damage. Although that works great, it has changed my concept some and I would rather this scrapper not use fire.

Anyone test out spring attack yet or know where I can get some data on it?

Thanks in advance!

Last I heard, Stalkers were commenting on how Spring Attack wouldn't break Hide ...

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Don't know about breaking hide, but I took it on my 50 Electric Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper, to turn my Lighting Rod/Shield Charge double-whammy into a triple-whammy. I'm satisfied with it. I don't have numbers, but six-slotted with L30 Obliterate, I seem to recall it did around 200 points of damage at level 50, maybe a little less. About 2/3 of what Shield Charge did, maybe half of what Lightning Rod does, with the same slotting. Takes a bit longer to recharge. (My LR and SC recharge in about 42 sec, SA takes about a minute.)

All in all, I'm quite happy with it as a pool power attack. Glad I took and sixed it. Gives me more AoE. I'll be trying to figure out how to work it in for all my other characters with SJ now.

This is quite likely, as, mechanically, it's exactly the same as Lightning Rod and Shield Charge. As Robotech_Master said, it does approximately 2/3rds the damage of Shield Charge with a bit longer recharge (if you want to see the real numbers, just say '[Spring Attack]' in game and click it to get the real numbers).

I am, quite likely, going to work it into many of my future builds. It most definitely provides a nice source of AoE... It's by far the best pool attack (Air Superiority is debatably the only other decent one), and CJ/SJ are powers people already frequently took anyways.

Perhaps a more important question is, is it permissible to use Spring Attack if it's Fall?

Maybe you're just supposed to use it to "Spring Forward".

Agree On my brute its pretty usefull in farms, you can jump to the other side if you're stuck and the damage scales nicely with Fury. The AoE is somewhat small, recharge rather long, but its now part of my basic set of attacks.

The AoE seems to be the same size as Shield Charge, it just does the smaller of the two numbers to the full area and the larger to the central spike. Point blank damage is two thirds Shield Charge, full AoE about a third.

All three attacks - Spring Attack, Shield Charge, and Lightning Rod - work the same way. All three teleport you to the location (Animations may vary, but the actual effect is a teleport) and then you drop a Psuedopet which launches the attack portion of the power.

As such, you don't attack and so you don't break hide. You do cause agro though.

I took it on a new SS/Fire brute for spits & gurgles. I didn't think I'd like it but I do. Well, I like it with a healthy amount of Fury & Rage.

Does Spring Attack benefit from Containment?

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

Off the top I want to say no. But next time you level up a controller, see if it mentions the double damage when messed in the detailed power descriptions.

I just delved [air superiority], checked the Controller version, it does have the extra damage listed if target is held. [Spring Attack] does not.
