Hey guys thought I'd confirm that I've added in the extra badge Preservation Specialist. I mentioned it by name in the guide, but forgot to tag it onto the badge section... doh!
Whats the total number of Astral merits earned per successful run, not counting any badges you may get along the way?
I've been getting mixed reports of anywhere between 7 astral merits, and 13 astral merits a run..
on avg i been getting about 12, but thats cause we earn around 2 side badges per run

Bring to 2 and HOLD - BaF style - watch your time and when the seedling drops - GANK.
MO runs planned from 7BST tonight. They will be SLOW. The bombs badge along is gonna take some time. Hoping to get some practice runs in this afternoon. All the other badges have been gotten on Onion so if can nail this we'll have some folks with nice shiny new titles
The Kisana/Ariad/Davejb show just MO'd. All four in one stressful run. Never again... till tomorrow.

Heads up, from the patch notes to beta last night.
Addressed an issue where Desdemona's invincibility at the end of the event would occasionally not apply, leading to her demise and failure of the trial.
I've failed at least twice (think 3 times) where Des died, so a heads up on that one. Grr

Thanks for putting this up! This guide was pivotal in my succesful run on Justice yesterday morning. Not only was it my first time leading, but it was also my first run of the Trial ever!! Our League had a few people on it that knew what was up, but the vast majority were running it for their first times.
The map helped a ton, also... so thanks to Tsumiju also!

Something to add is that the Avatar's confuse attack range is HUGE - even in the corridor, you get hit by it.
It's also 20mag. This means:
Break Free (5mag) x 4 = 30sec of protection. This is pretty horrible, as the icons won't even flash before fading, and it's really short. Plus your tray can only hold so many, so that would be 2 and a half minutes of protection on a full tray.
Emerge (15mag) x 2 = 60sec of protection. Better, one full minute of protection and less clicking. 10 minutes on a full tray, which you probably won't need.
Escape (20mag) x 1 = 90sec of protection. Great, 90 sec is actually a pretty long time, and you'll have more room to hold them. 1800 seconds, or 30 minutes, which you really won't need.
So... hoard them Escapes!

I've rewritten the Avatar section and added a few new tips as well as editing the map at the top to show bomb locations in green.
Is there a bug with the Lichen? Protector was trying this trial the other night and when we hit the regen WW the temp powers wouldnt go off and his regen never got affected...

The Lichen shows an "invalid target" if the War Walker already has a Lichen applied to it, which could be the cause there!
Also, things to update!
From the start of the trial, all the way to the room before the Self Repairing War Walker, its best for all three teams to act as a single "Kill Team" to clear mobs in the way, this reduces the risk of damage to the teams HP and being effected by status effects.
Lore Pets, Alignment Powers and Accolade powers should, once the Extinction War Walker is defeated, not be used again until the Lichen Infested War Walker is fought, this means we can maximise damage, resistances and so on during this important battle.
Again once the Lichen Infested War Walker is downed, these powers should be allowed to recharge for use against the Avatar of Hamidon.
When badging the Self Repairing/Lichen Infested War Walker, the timer starts when the previous room's guards are defeated. A single enemy can be left alive to allow more preperation time, or orders for an immediate assault can be given during this room clearance to maximise the timer.
The Lichen Infested War Walker, has an independant spawn point of the Self Repairing War Walker, so moving the War Walker when first encountered is not required, but moving it when it respawns Lichen Infested, is helpful!
When dealing with the bomb badge, there are 2 phases. Bombs from the first IDF bomb warning just before the Spore Tunnels can be scrapped down by having the entire raid attack each bomb on the raid leaders signal. However, the bombs just before the Avatar in the final corridoor, need clearning from range due to their mutual proximity.
For the Avatar itself, it seems a Phalanx tactic works well again, with those targeted by the Will of the Earth moving away as required. Mutual support from Clarion, Rebirth and other buffs can prolong survival against the avatar.

Okay guys I've added a few new bits throughout the guide to make it that little bit more informative. Keep correcting any mistakes I miss!
In the trial you have to lead Desdemona through the Underground Tunnels and find out the Praetorian Vanessa DeVore’s secret that will shake the foundation of Praetoria itself.
This is a guide written to expand upon both the official walkthrough and Voodoo Girl’s guide and add some of my own touches too.
Below is a map of the trial.
As with most of the trials there are 3 main stages to the trial itself and I’ll attempt to give you a basic strategy to complete the trial successfully. Please bear in mind I will describe when and how to get the badges, but this guide will not specifically walk through how you can get the ‘Master Of’ badge.
NOTE: The most useful Incarnate ability to have and use on this trial is the Clarion Destiny shield. This will protect you against the hold and terrorize attacks of the different War Walkers. I would be hesitant to start the trial without making sure that there are enough people (roughly 3 or 4 people with Clarion) on your league with the Clarion Destiny Shield to overlap the confuse protection.
- Break Free (Mag 5) will give you 30 seconds of protection
- Emerge (Mag 15) will give you 60 seconds of protection
- Escape (Mag 20) will give you 90 seconds of protection
Personnel Needed: 12-24 characters at level 50It's a good idea to sort out 2 things before you enter the trial;
Stage 1 – Desdemona’s Ritual and Extinction War Walker
Enemies: Imperial Defense Force
Rewards: 3 x Astral Merit for Extinction War Walker
Tips: Whoever enters the trial first will be given ‘custody’ of Desdemona, and that will last the duration of the trial, unless she loses you (like any other escort npc) so have this in mind as you enter the trial. The person that is given custody of her will have a floating symbol of Desdemona above them, so you don’t lose them. Either a Tank (to take damage for her) or a MM (keep your pets around her at all times) or a healer (heal the damage she takes) would be good choices for her escort. Obviously other people on the trial can help out, but this is a good foundation to consider.
For the first part of the trial, at least until the Self-Repairing War Walker, you will stand more chance of completing the trial if everyone on your league moves and acts as a single body to clear the mobs.
Stage 2 – Crystal Chamber Trap, Self-Repairing War Walker, Lichen Infested War Walker
Enemies: Devouring Earth, Imperial Defense Force
Rewards: 2 x Astral Merit per War Walker.
Tip: Use the Clarion shield or make sure you carry break free’s for the War Walker fights, as the Hold and Terrorize attacks can and will wipe entire teams.
Stage Three – Bombs and Avatar of Hamidon
Enemies: Devouring Earth, Imperial Defense Force, IDF Explosive Devices
Rewards: 2 x Empyrean Merit (first completion that day) 1 x Empyrean Merit (thereafter)
1 x Astral merit if you destroy all IDF Explosive Devices before they explode
- When you defeat the Avatar of Hamidon you’ll be awarded the Underground Seeker badge and your Empyrean Merits (2 on the first completion of the day, 1 the rest of the time)
- Badge notes: You can wait to strike the final blow to the Avatar and defeat both a seedling and the Avatar at the same time to get the Avatar Assassin badge. If at the end of the trial you don’t let Desdemona’s health go below 50%), you will get the Tour Guide badge.
Badges:Underground Seekers – Complete The Underground Trial.
Regenerate This – Defeat the Self-Repairing and Lichen Infested War Walkers within 8 minutes of starting the fight.
Tour Guide – Don’t let Desdemona’s health go below 50%.
Preservation Specialist – Don't let any of the IDF bombs detonate.
Avatar Assassin – Defeat the Avatar of Hamidon at the same time as an Seedling.
Master of the Underground Trial – Earn the Regenerate This, Tour Guide, Preservation Specialist and Avatar Assassin badges.
