Gold Corporation Second Class Recruiting Members

In anticipation of Freedom, and all the new goodness along with it, the Gold Corporation is recruiting for it's Second Class. We are a team of mutants, that is the only requirement for the team. We RP in game with some OOC as well. Why Second Class you might ask, well, we all hit 50 with our mains in the group, and for us, it's about the adventure to 50, and not so much the endgame. We do all still have our 50's, but we are looking for the next Class of mutants out of the Gold Corporation.

We decided to wait until Freedom because then all the AT's will be available to choose from. We will begin in Galaxy City, and go from there, so we would all start from Level 1.

I am still working on the premise for the Second Class, however, Maximilian Gold, the leader of the Gold Corporation has always been on the lookout for new recruits and this will form the basis for the Second Class, to step in while the original team is embroiled with the Rikti, Praetorians, and whatever else threatens the City.

If you are interested, please let me know.

Don't necessarily need name of hero but an idea of AT that you might want to play, and your global or username.

1. @tyrusprime - Dominator of some sort
2. Starflier - Scrapper Moxie Girl
3. Battledog - Psi/Kin corruptor
4. mousedroid - Stalker (The) Ghost in the Grass
5. Philly Guy - Controller
6. j_thug - Hammer/Shield Tank
7. Square_woot - Brute
8. Tsukasa_NA - TBD

Meeting time is Thursdays 7-9 ET.

We won't be able to meet until September 29th. I am out of province for work. I do travel on occasion. That will be our targeted first meeting date.

I loved my time with the Gold Corp and wish I could still take part. Everyone should try and get in on this if they can!

Can you tell me a little more about it? I'm looking for a heavy roleplaying SG, and I wouldn't mind getting in on the ground floor of a project like this. Do you have a Guild Portal site that can be checked out?

What day do you plan to do this on a regular basis ? Tuesday's would not work for me , but any other day is perfectly fine after 5pm M,W,Thurs or Fri and Sat are great also for me .

No Guild Portal site (that I know of) But many of the "First Class" characters had VV pages of varying degrees of completeness. Search for:

Girl Crush
Maximillian Gold
Head to Head (or Head-to-Head, I forget)
Red Cutter
Incense n Peppermint
Sandpile

Thanks! I checked things out, and it does sound like it'd be a fun, tight-knit group to be a part of. I sent in a PM.

Just to point out, Moxie Girl will be Street Justice, so I will likely have to roll with MA for awhile. Hopefully they don't hold out on us for too long. Planning to reuse an old costume that I've actually used for a previous incarnation of the character. Still working on a secondary, backstory, and refinements to the costume, but here's the general idea.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

FYI - I'll be rolling a Hammer/Shield tanker!

I have been waiting to see what ATs were going to be represented and now I know, well, I know them all except for Nova.

We have a fair whack of melee types and not much in the way of buffers/debuffers.

I will make my toon a psi/kin corruptor and see you all when Bull gets back for the Sept 29 start date.

We still planning to all meet at level 1 in the Galaxy start area?

Ok team, was on the road, just got home tonight and was finally able to get back into the forums. I haven't heard from 1 person yet regarding AT. I have a concept for the team. Will be posting it shortly. In terms of concept, why a second class I mean.

Thursdays at 7ET. This week will be our first meeting. Everyone log into the tutorial for Galaxy City. That is where we will start.

Will we be RPing as if it's the team's first meeting? Or will we be running under the assumption they've all met before?

We will all know each other since we were recruited into the Gold Corporation to go into the field at some point. The point has arrived with the chaos in Galaxy City. Something everyone should keep in mind is that we can take the first session or two to flesh out relationships. When you were recruited, all of you knew you would be a covert black ops type of team. So think of the Second Class as an X-Force, although we won't be eliminating anyone. Just transporting them to secure facilities and such.

Here is the proposal. I like this idea. Any thoughts from the rest of you.

What if, in gathering a second class of mutants, Max's goal was to develop a proactive strike force capable of handling some of the dirtier jobs the first class wasn't suited for?

In other words, I'd like to propose that at level 20 we begin to work towards the Vigilante alignment. That way we could still run hero content, but occasionally go to the Rogue Islands and hit groups like Arachnos, the Family, the Skyraiders, etc. where they live, instead of waiting for them to hatch a plot in Paragon City.

Sounds like a good premise to me, bull. I like the shadier side of things sometimes.

Looking at the list, I notice that we have four melee people. Tank, Brute, Scrap, Stalker. Would it help if I went with something support or ranged DPS oriented? I don't mind fitting the needs of the group.

Hey Square_Woot. Last time we had no restrictions, and everyone played what they wanted. So, what I am saying, is it's up to you. We'll make it work.

Now, now, if anyone's going to get a crippling case of concept flip-flop-itis it's going to be me.

Well Starflier, get over that by Thursday, lol.

For everyone who is checking the posts, my hero is in the galaxy tutorial. Everyone log into there on Thursday night. His name is Shakeup.

Hey, Woot
I chose to go with a Kinetic because of all the melee types and Iwent with a corruptor beacuse I also want to do DAMAGE!
Yay...damage!
My toon is sitting at the start of the tutorial waiting right now.

Must think about how Max recruited her now...

You bring up a good point Battledog. All of the members on this team were recruited by Max. Max has a lot of connections, being over 200 years old, and also having worked in black ops for many governments during the Cold War. He has kept in touch, or rather, kept an "eye" on the other operatives that were mutants and has been tracking their families and keeping in touch. Max is a hero, although some of his methods are not heroic. So the Second Class fits in perfectly.

Okay! If the group isn't in need of a different AT then I'll stick with Brute. I think I'm going to go with one of my old characters that never really got a fair break, because her first iteration had sets that I ended up hating. Here's a brief description of her:

Chip Chocolate is a character with a mutant power of chocolate manipulation/control. She's in her mid-thirties, and is fairly jaded because no one ever took her seriously because of her superpower. She used to run with the Goldbrickers, but could never get another villain group to look twice at her once they saw her power. She's older, bitter, but could be looking at the Gold Corporation as sort of her last chance to make something of herself, this time on the side of good. Chip has connections to the Isles with some low level street gangs, most notably the Goldbrickers, which could be used for RP when the group branches out to more unsavory waters.

If she's a little too goofy of a fit, I have other ideas.

Hi Square_Woot, Chip Chocolate might be a bit too light for this group. Not that this group is going to be dark or anything like that, but given the premise, the team will be more gritty.

Don't worry, I brought plenty of extra angst to fuel the Drama-tron for days!!

Still no Street Justice for Moxie Girl, so she'll be WM/WP until it gets here. The character is coming along nicely, a good mix of 'innocent schoolgirl' and kick-you-down-a-flight-of-stairs-when-your-back-is-turned violent.

I like the idea behind Chip. Her power is... ridiculous, but I think that's the whole point. I think she'd get along just fine. Or perhaps not, given the jaded personality. Either way, look forward to meeting her.

That's kind of the premise behind her; she's a somewhat gritty character, partially because no other group has taken her seriously. She's an ex-criminal, a struggling alcoholic, but badly wants to fix the things that are wrong in her life. Heh, she's kind of my unwanted child character, no group seems to want her, which has worked to sculpt her IC persona. XD I'll come up with a different concept by Thursday.

As far as I'm concerned, Chip Chocolate is welcome. Chocolate based powers may seem "silly" but it's all in how you portray the character. Look at Plastic Man and Mister Fantastic - two characters with very similar powers, but very different personalities.

Anyway, here's a little background on...

Ghost in the Grass

On December 24, 1993 naturalists Dana and Arthur West were studying leopards in the Serengeti when they awoke to the sound of crying. Someone had abandoned a mutant newborn on their veranda. Naming the boy Kipawa (Swahili for “gift”), the Wests raised him quietly as their own son.

When they returned home in 2000, Kip found life in America much different than Tanzania. Even at his young age, he had developed an affinity for the big cats of the Serengeti and often played among them with their cubs. In America, there were no wild cats, only cruel children who ostracised him for his appearance.

It wasn’t until his family moved to Paragon City that Kip truely found acceptance among his peers. For the next six years Kip flourished. He excelled both academically and athletically, and graduated as his school’s first mutant salutatorian.

Given his mutant powers Kip was fascinated with the life of superheroes, so when Maximillian Gold visited to recruit him for a new team he was putting together, Kip implored his parents to let him join. Despite the potential danger, Dana and Arthur knew Kip was physically and mentally up to the task, so they agreed, provided Kip also attend university full time.

Using his childhood Tanzanian nickname, "the Ghost in the Grass," Kipawa's powers include the ability to camouflage himself in almost any environment; razor-sharp claws that retract into his fingertips like a cat's claws; the strength and stamina to run long distances at great speed and leap higher and farther than top olympic athletes; superhumanly keen hearing, eyesight and sense of smell; and an empathic connection to felines.
