NPC AI change-when did it happen?

ive recently noticed that NPCs have had an AI change which makes them not attack stuff that is untouchable

for example when a player went into hibernate the NPCs would continually beat on him even though he was untouchable, but now the NPCs just stand there and do nothing until hibernate is ended

i have also noticed this with NPCs and Phantom Army, as well as player pets and phasing enemies such as fake nemesis when they hit their PFF

my question is when this change happened cause i dont remember seeing it in any patch notes (im not complaining about the change either, it actually is a boon to my ill/cold because the tough target is not spamming aoes on the PA killing the lolmelee phantasm instantly)

has anyone else noticed this?

You know if this works both ways? I need to see if this means that enemies hit by Dimension Shift are no longer trying to attack players. That will clear up a decent chunk of confusion.

no idea, ive never actually taken group phasing powers or cages because i dont like them so i dont know how the baddies reacted before lol

but can always test it out if you want, i can bring a MM and im sure pets wont attack the targets

If that's true, I'm surprised there's no one complaining about a nerf to Hibernate, since if enemies aren't attacking their powers are recharging. And that means that when you come out of Hibernate you're likely to take another alpha strike.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

I've noticed this in the last couple of weeks every time I use my WS self-rez everyone just stands there doing nothing for 15 seconds unless I attack them.

this is exactly what i was thinking, enemies arent burning their end attacking me, so they can use whatever power they want when i get out of hibernate

running in a team though its not very noticeable because other poeple are killing the stuff standing around you (i dont think the aggro shifts though, if your an ice tank and taunt then hibernate, things just stop attacking you unless someone else pulls the aggro)

Now if only they could teach players not to attack untouchable enemies...

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

the only way i could see this happening is if they made enemies that went into an untouchable phase completely not targetable until the phase wore off (although this would make fighting carny illusionists even worse)

Or have them do feedback damage, a little aversion therapy. <.<

I noticed the same with the rez in dark armor.

How about just making a decent visual cue for when they ARE untouchable? I literally can't tell one way or another until my attack hits, or doesn't.

the dark armor rez does a high mag stun when you rez for like half of the time that you are untouchable

IIRC the dark rez is mag 30 stun for almost 15 seconds and your untouchable for 15 sec, which is kinda odd

Have not tested it, but it sounds somewhat unlikely. It would void the main use of the PA, being the defense part of an ill/ troller. If mobs start to ignore PA, ill/ trollers won't survive nothing!

the mobs arent ignoring them, they are just standing in front of them doing absolutely nothing instead of trying to attack them

Recent changes to pet AI were made to get Lore buff pets to stop buffing things that couldn't benefit from the buffs. This might have bled over into general NPC AI not attacking stuff they can't harm.

I haven't noticed this affecting PAs, but I don't actually play an Illusion Control character.

this reason would actually make quite a bit of sense

Yep, and then if I just stand there and retoggle, there is a long pause after they stop the stun animation while they stand in a circle and stare at me. I noticed it and thought it was peculiar, but didn't give it any more thought - figured it was just my imagination or that I hadn't played the character in long enough that I just didn't recognize that it was normal.

Then I saw this thread, and thought it may apply.

It does! This will help lessen some of the confusion centered around using Dimension Shift. However, Singularity keeps trying to attack shifted enemies.

I noticed this last night while playing my bots/traps MM on a mission with Carnies in it. My bots would stop attacking the ones that could phase when they did so.

In retrospect though, I should have noticed this when I first used Return to Battle in a Lambda trial.
