Your "Sci-Fi Not Seen" Shame!
On the American side, i dont think there's many scifi series & popular movies that i haven't seen at one time or another. If it was ever on the scifi channel, i've probably seen at least a handful of episodes of it. There are shows i didn't get into, but not ones i havent seen.
Now as for various British scifi shows and anime, yeah, there's quite a bit. The ones that come to mind are Red Dwarf, Spaced, and virtually all the Gundam series. Probably a lot of others, but Netflix is helping with that, sadly, so is being unemployed. bleh.
Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc: Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory
Bottomline instead of getting a tight 6 or 8 episode miniseries we got 17 semi-sloppy episodes where only maybe half of them were worthwhile. Hopefully the next BSG spin-off series won't suffer the same fate.

You mean the one that they've just relegated back to a webseries?

I'm actually pleasantly surprised how many of the shows/series mentioned here that I've seen considering I haven't owned a television in years (I do watch DVDs on my computer though).
This discussion is making me think I need to go back and watch Babylon 5 though. I've only seen an episode here or there over the years. I never hated it but I guess it didn't really grab me either. Given what's being said about it, it looks to me like it would be worth my while to start at the beginning.
Regarding NuBSG, I'm another one who didn't like it. I guess it would be more accurate to say I thought it was garbage. I watched the entire first season because I'd heard good things and wanted to really give it a chance, but after that I couldn't think of a single reason to continue with it.
As for contemporary stuff, I never saw a full episode of Lost. Or Supernatural. Or Fringe. Or Warehouse 13 or Dollhouse. Or True Blood. Was too busy playing this game actually. Gave up on Heroes after the season 3 nosedive.
It took me until season 2 to forgive certain production design disagreements of nu-BSG. Once I was able to get a sense of story arc and characterizations, I really started appreciating what an exceptional effort it was. By the end it was a terrifically well-woven saga, imo.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer hooked me in season 2. I am glad that I did not come across it in season one as I would have probably given it a pass. I wonder how many would-be disciples of BtVS missed out on it because of first season impressions.
Have not seen any post-Tom Baker Dr Who's, or other BBC sci-fi of the last 2 decades.
Lots of old B&W classics I haven't seen. The Day the Earth Stood Still, Fantastic Voyage, etc.
I'd like to see a thread featuring lesser known brief but shining sci-fi shows that either failed to reach broad audiences or were for some other reason cancelled.
There was in fact material out there that would have appealed to people who had previously watched Nu-BSG. That story was "How did the Cylons get started in the first place". That was a part of the BSG historical timeline that had a legitimate justification to be covered regardless if they used "another" show's foundation to tell it or not.
But even with that I think the main reason why Caprica failed was that instead of just laser-focusing in on the single Cylon Origin story they decided to spend too much effort developing the metaphysical sideplots and taking too much time to tell the "main" story they should have paid attention to. The show lost its way within just the first few episodes and it quickly became apparent that all they wanted to do was churn out as many episodes as possible regardless if they advanced the story or not.
Bottomline instead of getting a tight 6 or 8 episode miniseries we got 17 semi-sloppy episodes where only maybe half of them were worthwhile. Hopefully the next BSG spin-off series won't suffer the same fate.
