I logged on to a toon I haven't played with in a while (Shield/WM Tanker), and while I was rediscovering how awesome tankers can be, an old friend I haven't spoken to in some time called me. He asked what I was up to, and I told him I was CoHing, and he said 'What? you're still playing that? It's been years!

And after our call, in the manner of Carrie Bradshaw, I got to thinking 'It has been years. How come?'

I've paid over a thousand dollars for CoH over the years on just my sub. Woah. But then, looked at as 15 bucks a month, it's really excellent value for money. There's so much to it, and so much of it is so awesome, that even when stuff gets in that I dislike or at least begrudge the dev time 'wasted' on it, like PvP and the new 'tutorial', the overall package is still a superb gaming and social experience for me.

This post is fairly empty of any content, I know; it's just another 'i love CoH!' thread. But I'd like to state for the record lol that my recent ranting about hating a small part of the changes to come in the game is not indicative of the extent of my feelings for the game or the devs that make.

Almost 7 years on, I look at my Character Select screen on the Freedom server, and see My paltry 2 lvl 50s, 2 lvl 40s, and every other slot full of alts of lvl 30 or so or less, and I feel that I have so much yet to experience.

CoH: it's awesome.

I hear ya man.

On a console, I would pay $40-$60 for a game that I would most likely finish within a month. Sure, there's probably an online component to it, but odds are my interest in that wanes once I get hold of another game.

Here, I pay $15 a month, and get access to a multitude of experiences that far exceed any console game. I still have story arcs galore that I have never played, archetypes that have yet to make it past level 10, and power set combinations that I can't wait to try out.

Good game is good.

7 year vet here, too. I honestly have never been bored and love this game. (Tried others, none came close.) Made friends, sometimes laughed till my stomach hurt, and have to say it's the cheapest 'therapy' there is for getting rid of anger. I made myself a tee shirt that has "City of Heroes-It's just a game", along with a pic of one of my toons on the front....the back of the shirt says "...yah, right!" LOL. Like the OP, I have invested thousands over the years into the game, and more. There is a loyaly and emotional investment for me also. ( I remember a moment in the game that moved me deeply...the day Christopher Reeves passed away, Atlas park was filled with players facing the flag, saluting, grieving and on bended knee as a tribute.) There have been many moments like that for me. To lots of mmropg players, this is just a game. For me, "....yah right!" I am looking forward to continuing the fun, creativity and new goodies for as long as CoH lives.

LONG LIVE COH!

Big big dittoes. I love the game, too, and feel the same way about some of the not so positive feedback I've been posting of late. It's no reflection at all on my general feeling about the game or even about Freedom. There are some things in it that I don't like and will never like, but so what? I don't currently like grinding iTrials, either, and never will, but that doesn't mean I'm an unhappy camper. Not by a long long shot.

I've only been here four years, but that bit I highlighted there sums it up for me pretty well. I've only played ONE tank up to anything past tenth - did you know tanks are hella fun?! I sure didn't... There's a lot more stuff in here for me to look at and I'm sure most of it's going to be fun with a capital FU (much like my MA/SR scrapper).
