Is This Guy for Real?

The Mars Society is not a scientific body, only a "space exploration advocacy" association. Presenting a "scientific" paper at this venue (presumably to distinguish it from the science fiction they also host) is nowhere near close to peer review. If that's the best he can do, then he's one step from a monologue about how those fools at the academy laughed at his ideas.


A huge red flag went up with this testimonial:
If this guy is getting support from anyone associated with that fraud award-winning piece of cinematic New Age nonsense passing itself off as a scientific-religious documentary, then his credibility is only taking on water.


"SuperScience"? Seriously? Is this from the Venture Brothers?
What's most dismaying is his habit of making presentations to high school students, an audience in no position to adequately assess his claims but one in need of regular instruction in scientific methodology and the detection of BS.

Oh god. I totally glossed over the mention of that film. What complete garbage.

He's also done the Art Bell (radio) Show a time or two and uses them as "good things" in his quotes section on the speakers websites. Not exactly a glowing endorsement there. My gut instinct is he's a fraud who's paded his resume with jargoned-up terms for common junk which any of us could do. he's just good at self promotion and gotten noticed for basically nothing.

I don't think we need to wait and see anything. It's staring us right in the face - and if he had demonstrated this thing as actually working, in a convincing way, to anyone with half the brainpower it would take to not be bamboozled by this charlatan, then the aerospace industry would be falling all over themselves to buy his patent, which he does not apparently have.

How long does it take to get a patent anyway? All my copyrights took a year to get filed.

Yet a number of scientists speak at that forum.


SuperScience is the name of the program he created to get kids interested in science. I don't believe you're ragging on that. That's pretty petty.

Yeah, I remember that, but if I remember correctly the major part of the body of evidence he presented about that were that the people debunking the claims about it were frauds themselves.

So has Michio Kaku, Phil Plait, and Seth Shostak. Are they frauds too? C2C does have its reality check kind of episodes, y'know. Hell, even Carl Sagan, before he died of cancer, had appeared on Art Bell numerous times.

You seem to have missed "and lists it as a good thing." Beyond that, the four you listed have a history of actual verified accomplishments, papers and scientific discoveries under their belts. Barnes has none of that, making his claims and his appearances on C2C closer to "contrail nutbag of the week" than Sagan. Appearing an C2C doesn't make one a nut but without a history of not being one, it definitely points to being a nut.

By your logic the guy claiming that the UN is in league with aliens from Zeta Retucli and the Masons to create chemtrails to steralize reptelian aliens disguised as George W Bush so the Illuminati can take over Madison County to steal Clint Eastwoods brain for Obama to perform satanic rituals with is just as credible as Carl Sagan.

That's what they want you to think.
