Wow I thought you were using that as a hypthetical example of a worst-case scenario. I didn't realize that -actually- happened in another game.

At any rate I don't think it'll come to that extreme in this game because the Devs here have a good track record of being reasonable and (mostly) sane.

From todays Facebook friday:

With purchases of larger bundles of Paragon Points, you will get bonus points. These numbers are still being decided upon.

That at least is a case of a discount for a bulk purchase, but it looks as though the preliminary announcements are still in flux (or I'm confused about the difference between an account-wide "Character Costume Slot" and a "Costume Slot").

  • 350........$4.00......................Character Costume Slot (account wide, max of 5 (1,600 PP / $20))
  • 800......$10.00......................Costume Slot (up to 5 more)
  • 1600....$20.00......................5 Character Costume Slots (account wide)
As always, clarification from a red name would be most appreciated.

The $70 monocle will go down as either the high water-mark of MTX overreach or an unfortunate precedent. Either way, it's an all too real example of how actual costs for virtual items can be inflated after converting actual money for in-game currency.

That's only for each 1200 PP purchased at the store, though, not accrued as a VIP subscriber. At that rate, the additional Reward Tokens make only a fractional discount when applied against the new veteran rewards.
Well, I was going to link to this post by Ghost Falcon, but Dr_Darkspeed beat me with the reference from todays Facebook Friday. And I remembered it incorrectly, it is additional PPs with bulk purchases. So 1200 would cost $15, but might get you an extra 200 PP, which may be even more encouraging toward bulk purchases, but still makes subscribing a much better deal.

Yes, you only get a Reward Token for buying 1200 PP. But that is what would encourage the bulk purchase. If I only had to buy 800 to go with my 400 free ones, I would obviously be less inclined to purchase the 1200. Which is one reason I bet they will have a bonus amount at the 1200 PP cut off.

And the Reward Tokens don't really give a fractional discount, they give you things you can't purchase in the store at all, whether the Tier 9 consumables, a Nemesis Staff, or the /auction house command. Even those of us starting out at Tier 9 have to decide, do I want that new costume set, or some of the enhancement booster? Wait, if I spend even another $5 a month, I can pick up more stuff with the PPs in the store, plus in 3 months, I can get an extra Reward Token. Of I can spend $15 and get that token right now, plus some extra PP, so I can pick up the the new powersets NOW rather than being patient.

That was from a space based game that recently started letting people walk around. And the price is kind of hidden, with exchanges through 2 different game currencies to get the $70 price. (I thought it was $50, but only read 1 story on it and haven't been online in that game for a month or so. Either way, it was quite outrageous.)

They are, according the today's Facebook Friday, available for purchase on the market:

A. Those are available both as Repeatable Rewards through the Paragon Rewards Program or by purchase in the Paragon Market. You have options!
To be absolutely fair, they could have been replying to this question instead:

Will Enhancement Unslotters, Windfall, XP Boosters, and Enhancement Boosters be available on the Paragon Market?
Either way, it seems very clear that the majority of the Tier 9 consumable rewards aren't exclusive to the Paragon Rewards program.

That is interesting, but I guess not surprising when I think about it. Get you hooked on them with the free ones from the Rewards to suck you into buying them in the market.

I'm sorry but anyone who decides to pay $70 for a fictional monocle deserves to be gouged. As the saying goes "A fool and his money are soon parted."

Yeah, I thought I had a chat client issue. It was operator error (I was scrolled all the way up instead of all the way down). So I kept posting the same question about Titan Weapons, thinking my last question hadn't gone through. Apologies. I'll give you these:

Can you put me up for the night?

You can railroad your own self right up to bed there, buster.
