new 50 fire/kin needs help
I hate sets and crafting but for my dark/dark corruptor I did want to increase his recharge to make fluffy perma and it wasn't too diffictult or expensive to do that. You really should spend the time to do some research before you try it or use someone elses build. This is a list of the sets and their bonuses in wiki. It shows you just how confusing and annoying they can be . You also need to know about the soft caps and the rule of 5.
Oh my dear sweet lord that is confusing
I think the first thing I need to do is start to stockpile cash so I can buy all these recipes. Any advice on how to do that? I know fire/kin is good for 'farming' but I do not know which maps I should be running.
Thanks again.

Gratz by the way.
You should have enough money from just getting to 50 and cashing in merits to make 4 or 5 good sets (around 2 or 300 mil). Remember you don't need to get all the enhancements at 50 to get their bonuses so you can put low lvl slots in powers you don't use much and you won't always need to get all 6 slots in a set for the bonus you want.
tyvm!
I don't suppose there is a guide with a build I could use? I am new to all the set bonuses and really do not know what the 'good' sets are. I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out myself but with the bonuses spread all over the sets I have no clue how to combine them and make sure I have enough of the right defenses, etc to keep from gimping my favorite character.

You can find a Fire/Kin guide HERE.
Most Fire/Kins take the Earth APP set, and try to buff the S/L Defense with sets. Fulcrum Shifted Fissure is just too good. If you're Defense is high enough, it will turn away the mez attacks. But the Psi APP is not a bad choice.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I do have a build I can post if you want it, but its a very expensive one so I can't say how helpful it will be to you in the short term.
Thanks again all - OK - I tried to build something based on advice in this thread:
http://planner.cohtitan.com/view/2590
How does that look? I'm not happy that I have no slots left for Mind Over Body or Psi Tornado, so if I can trim slots anywhere please let me know. I am going for something affordable that will give me a boost over just level 50 generic IOs but nothing crazy.

It's hard for me to judge, since if there's a way to see exactly which enhancements you chose for each slot, I don't see it. But I can probably make a couple of decent guesses.
-For Transfusion, look into the accurate healing sets. They're fairly economical and let you get good enhancement values with few slots. Also, if those are procs you've got in there, you want those in Health. Really.
-Enhancing Siphon Speed for slow is fairly pointless.
-Enhancing Hot Feet for slow is questionable. It's already at the cap for slow movement, so enhancing that will only improve performance against things that resist slow... but in my experience, things that resist slow tend to resist it so much that enhancing it *still* won't help much.
-Check out Efficicacy Adaptor for Transference. Four slots of that give almost the same level of performance as you're getting out of six common IOs.
-I question the value of investing that many slots in Siphon Power.
-Speed Boost's base recharge is 2 seconds, it doesn't need slotting for that. Stick an EndMod in there. Similarly, whatever you've got in Increase Density besides resist, it probably doesn't need. 1 or 2 common resist IOs seems like enough.
Thank you! I feel like I am finally getting a handle on this. What about recommendations for Tough & Weave - it seems like everyone just puts Luck of the Gambler everywhere they can and then the +res sets for Tough, yes?

Well, that depends a lot on what you want out of them and what slots you've got to put into them.
On some builds I just put a couple common resist IOs in Tough, since I didn't run it all the time, and when I needed it I could keep things under control with Transference. Reactive Armor is popular with people going for defense, although it's bonuses aren't huge. Or there's just frankenslotting for whatever mix of res and endred suits your needs.
For Weave, the LotG recharge is certainly popular, just because recharge is so very very popular. I'm also partial to the Red Fortune set for the ranged defense at the end, though that's not to everyone's taste. And there's still mixing and matching IOs to free up slots for other things here too.
IMO the main thing you should know about Fire/Kin is that it spent a period of time with a reputation as the "best" farmer in the game, in part because endurance management for most characters used to be much more unfavorable. Changes to the game since then have leveled the playing field somewhat. Fire/Kin is still a powerful combo but is no longer what it once was.
Anyway, during Fire/Kin's heyday, pretty much everyone went Fire/Kin/Stone because Fire/Kin was the go-to farming build and everyone farmed s/l enemies. You can still do this and earn cash and possibly purple drops.
Outside of farms, s/l defense is useful but IMO it's hard to say whether its the best option. It depends on a lot of things. Getting Hot Feet constantly detoggled drives me crazy, so I generally consider Psi my go-to app unless I am going for Clarion Destiny. The fact that the rock and ice armors are hideous also tips the cards for me.
I think the change in Burn for Fire Armor had more to do with Fire/kin not being the farm king than inherit fitness. If anything else, end usage should be more difficult now that you have more powers with using the same number of slots. Saying that, Fire/kin is still one of the cheapest builds to farm with and can do so on SOs. Remember, there are two types of farms. One is to PL others at +4x8w/B and SS/fire/mu brutes are kings at this. There is also farming to get tickets in AE and is easily done by a number of builds since all you need to do is +1x8w/B, or +2x8. The higher diff settings will just make it quicker to cap tickets. Top of the line brutes can hit the ticket cap(1.5K) in under a minute.
Since one will be abusing the market with ticket farming, learning the market is really the best way to earn currency in the game. I had generated something like 4-5 billion from the market alone before I made a ticket muncher. If I was aggressive about it, I don't doubt I could generate 1 bill in a week from just the market.
Funny - I went with the Psi APP for those two exact reasons - I hate being stunned and I really do not like the look of Rock Armor. And Psi Tornado with Fulcrum Shift seems to do the job just fine

Personally, I prefer putting the knockback protection in my travel power.
Putting a LotG +global recharge in Indomitable Will is nice, but past that I'd get more recharge in there. The psi defense is a nice bonus, but when I get it I'm getting it for the status protection, and I want that up as much of the time as possible.
do you have a "data chunk" for Mid's? I find it's the easiest way to look at a build
I've played CoX for 42 months but I just got my first 50 today - a fire/kin. So I am somewhat clueless about some aspects of the game - any advice?
1) Enhancement Sets: I have never played with the set bonuses - I've just used the standard IO enhancements. Any advice on how to start gearing up for the sets?
2) Epic Pool: I've used the Psi Epic Pool to get the Mezz protection - is this the best pool for a fire/kin?
3) General Build: I've used a pretty standard build - heavy use of Flash-fire & Cinders, then Fulcrum Shift, Hot Feet, and Imps to burn down groups. I use Psi Tornado as an additional AOE. Now that I am 50 are there any tweaks?
I have a respec saved up so if there is a cookie cutter build I'd love to use it.
Thanks for helping a 42 month veteran who still really has no clue how to play this game
