From Belts to Tails; A request to make Hats their own costume piece.

Now, before it's mentioned, I know it's been stated in the past that there's clipping issues with certain hairstyles and certain hats, but I feel in an age where player responsibility is paramount, with examples like the Steampunk Pack having many, MANY costume pieces that tear and cut into others... that it's time we were given the ability to place hats upon our characters, and being responsible with how they end up looking.

I love all of the hats in the game, but as someone who plays long-haired individuals, going from hair that reaches my rear-end, to suddenly being buzzcut'd with a beret is very jarring. And a lot uglier than any number of tearing issues I'd have otherwise.

Tails and Belts were made separate due to demand and plea, would this be at all possible? I'd love a beret with my glam hair~

Lend a voice of support, those who care! And thanks for the game, Paragon!

(PS: Please to be wanting large hair ribbons. And short boots. And Dual-Blade War Fans. <3)

I would love to see this happen, some of my characters could really benefit from the ability to wear hats without losing out on their long hair.

I never actually knew that tails and belts were at one time part of the same costume slot. That must've been irritating.

In addition, maybe things like hair bows or ribbons could be added to the hats field if they are separated this way.

The problem isn't that some hairstyles clip with some hats, it's that ALL hairstyles clip with ALL hats. When you place a hat on your head, it compresses the hair underneath it. As someone who wears a hat most of the time in real life, I can testify to the kind of disastrous hat hair I end up with at the end of a long, hot day of wearing a baseball cap. That's why most hats follow the contour of the skill, and almost no hairs in the game are so thin, flat and round as to follow that closely enough. Thing is, 3D mesh hair doesn't compress, so pretty much all hairs will clip with pretty much all hats.

This isn't an issue with belts and tails, simply because all belts are flat at the rear and all tails connect to a flat surface. This isn't the case with hats. It's also not a case of letting people deal with clipping. That amount of clipping is unacceptable.

The only realistic solution is to give each hat several hairstyles unique to that hat, say one bald, one short an one long. Just separating hats from hair won't work on its face.

I would be perfectly happy with such a solution, myself. Heck, I'd be happy just to have a bald option added to most hats.

So would I. It looks like a lot of hats have the same hat line, or at least similar hat lines, so they may be able to add hair to a lot of them without having to make each hair piece individually, thus saving some amout of work. It's like how most Half Helmets have the same helmet shape, so helmet goggles work on most of them, you know?

i personally don't care about clipping issues as long as they only clip the costume, there are plenty of costume possibilities restricted because of the fact that a ton of costume pieces can not be used together.

just a small whisper, in the so called "better" super hero MMO of cryptic there is a HUGE thread about the very same thing and cryptic doesn't even react even ones on it.

I would be happy with a bald option for hats as well, Especially the tin crown hat.

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

The idea of having options of hair styles is one I would back.

Can't have a Clockwork with a top hat at the moment because of the "Hair"!

Not to mention skull heads.

Leave aside the clipping issue...

The real problem, based on what we've heard from Developers, is that there aren't enough anchoring points to the character model for much more options anywhere, let alone separating hair from hats. Gloves, boots, pants, belts, etc. all require their own anchor point on the character model, and I believe hair and hats share the same anchoring point, it's just that you have access to different options for said anchoring point depending on whether you are in the "Hats" category, or the "Standard / Masks with Hair" categories. I believe it is also the same reason you get access to 3 "Details" under "Full Masks" as opposed to only 2 in "Masks with Hair."

It can't be that hard to add another anchor point. I don't see how this is even an issue.

Or just make more then one version of each hat. Say one no hair one with short one with long hair. It be one Item so use the same number of anchors.

Standard code rant and all that.

That being said, there appears to be 5 anchor points associated with the head but only half helms uses all of them. If each of the categories re-uses the same anchor points and just changes what items are available for each point, its possible the Devs could use the existing anchor points to give Hats hair.
