When the Alpha slot was released, I embraced it with many of my toons. Was prepared to do specific TF's for the Notices in WST's because all other parts I could build by doing any content I chose to do ether solo or in traditional 8 person teams in TF's.
Then you should have zero issues. You can progress through the entire Incarnate system doing just this. It takes longer, but it can be done.
On top of that you say you don't mind doing Trials casually. So do them. I think you'd be surprised at how different your experience would be on trials now as opposed to in that first week. Now that people have a grasp of what to do, it's no more complicated than a ship raid.
On top of all this, you can now simply continue doing casual trials on the character that is fully decked out. Then use the Voucher system to convert Incarnate Merits into materials for other characters. It's an easy way to avoid growing pains.
The crux of your overly long post is, in my opinion, a lot of your stress is self-manufactured. Avoid new trials until people have the kinks ironed out, and trust that your server is probably just as close to average as the others, and that your fellow players are just as interested in doing things smoothly and stress free as you are.
