Why no claw customization?
Why no rularuu claws?

The never-ending, tormentful nightmare of no frikin customization continues!

Because VEATs, HEATs, and anything even remotely directed to the lore must retain its integrity above all else regardless of any similar breaking in lore that had to be done in order to even make it possible to play them (widows, forts, banes).

I.E. It's okay if the devs do it, but you cannot. Post said with a hint of bitterness and much sarcasm, take with as many grains of salt as you desire.

I'd like to echo this.

That said, I respect the Devs' efforts to keep these ATs tied to the lore in which they are based. After all, their names are the Arachnos Soldier and the Arachnos Widow. Their costumes and weaponry should be based around that used by Arachnos NPCs... to a point. I believe that the player should have the ability to write their character's story as they see fit (especially since it is possible to take an Arachnos Soldier/Widow and make them a Hero), and that should include some customization. In my opinion, "extraneous" costume pieces (which are shoulders, gloves, boots, chest details, weapons, and Head>Detail 1 and Detail 2) should be customizable. Keep the central part of the body as lore-specific as you like as far as I am concerned.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.

I wouldn't mind if the first costume was lore-locked.
The rest of them? I'm not playing a bloody single player RPG. I'm playing City of Heroes/Villains, one of the few games with an extensive amount of customization available. Why restrict it so much?

You want lore? Fine. You want me to play your lore? Maybe. You want me to play your lore in your costume? Only if for a little while and if it's fun. You're going to lock me into using Arachnos Claws when my widow has made her way over to Paragon City and became a hero?
What's wrong with you?

(Please note: this post is not necessarily directed at any given poster, just a way of putting things the way I see it)

Edit: Basically, the way I see it is that while your 'Soldier of Arachnos' was/is indeed a soldier of Arachnos, it has evolved throughout your playtime. Personally, I beat the snot out of Recluse. Do you really think I would want to be wearing the same uniforms the grunts have? Of course not. If you want to, then I have no objection as to having the option to. Just don't restrict it the way it is at the moment.
Oh and I just realized that I'm hijacking this thread. Silly me...

Wow really. I havent bothered to play my soldier or widow since they hit 50. But they can't use the ascension armor at all? Not even on alt costumes?

Ah, no. They can. The only costume slot that is locked is the first one (which basically reduces your number of available customizable costumes by 1 if you would be getting the last one, although I did hear or some way to access the last slot, I have not been able to personally).

I'd have to apologize if it is from my post that your concern rose.

Personally, my problem is the weapon customization. That, on the other hand, is non-existent for widows and very slim for soldiers.

Get all 4 Halloween salvage (from the Marketplace if necessary) and take it to the witch in Croatoa (just south of the Train Station), or Nerva (the place where the base portal spits you out - island just north of the respec arbiter).

On an Arachnos Soldier though, you can simply unlock slot 5 at 40 in St. Martial/Founder's Tailor.

Although I've never done it, I've known about the Halloween costume slot.
As for the Soldiers' 'extra' costume slot that they would acquire this way, it appears to be inaccessible, but I can clearly remember reading something that mentioned it being accessible, although somewhat buggy.

I think it was on Paragonwiki, will have to check.

Are you sure you're spelling it correctly? Maybe that's the problem.

/cc 5 used to work for me, but it was the same as the costume slot in /cc 1, and it could never be changed.

Did they fix that?

As it works currently, if you do all the costume missions including the one in the VEAT arcs, and turn in halloween salvage, you end up with 6 costume slots. The sixth doesn't show on the UI since it's not designed to handle more than 5, and can't be edited for that reason. It will forever be a copy of whatever was in your second (Not first, second. The first non-uniform slot) at the time. You CAN use it though, by typing '/cc 5'.

Personally, I tend to make a costume I intend to never change and put it in that second slot before turning in the mission, then switch it back after turning it in.

It's sad, but the lack of customization options is what made me shelve my Melee Fort/Night Widow.

It's pretty ridiculous that they haven't addressed the obvious player distaste and constant complaints over the lack of customization for VEATS. It's not to the point where it's getting ridiculous, and they just need to get a fix out there soon.

The fact that a Widow can't have Talsorian claws yet is just stupid, really, and just tells me the Devs have a fundamental misconception or misunderstanding that it's 'Okay' one of the strongest features in their game (visual customization of weapons/powers) is the only thing lacking that would keep many folks playing their VEATS as their main, and in the game longer.

I've stopped counting the endless stream of players who roll and level VEATS, only to find out the customization options are lackluster, and choose to roll something else.

This. Please give me more VEAT costume slots, and please let me use the Ascension Armor on at least a few of them.

That said, I'm sure the reason why we can't do it now is because "the game isn't coded to do that." It's hard coded to allow only the VEAT costume in one slot and only those costume parts, because that was the "vision" when VEATs were created.

I'm not saying a change would be easy (because I have no idea) but I think a change is almost universally desired by the players. Plus, this is VEATs were talking about. We're villains. Do it or we'll, um, hold your Star Wars action figures hostage, and slowly dismember them until we get it.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Star Wars toys hostages.
