If Kevin Costner can be Pa Kent, then he can be Jor-El.

He kinda reminds me of Brando's Jor-El in that shot.

I have a feeling that the studio and the involvement of Nolan will rein in the shortcomings of Snyder's style and we'll get a quality film.

Well, after seeing Green Lantern, I have to believe that they'll at least take pride in making a film about their biggest DC property.

Hmm, Crowe as Jor-El... I could see that working. Wouldn't be my first choice though.

My primary concern is how the film makers plan on making the Superman character interesting. He's always been a very clean cut goody two-shoes with a clear stance on morality. What I'd like to see is that stance challenged. I want see him making difficult moral choices and dealing with the innumerable shades of grey. We might see just that what with Nolan involved.

I'd also like to see him face a threat that rivals his own power. I hear Zod will be filling that role. As much as I love Terrence Stamp's Zod, it was cheesier than a stuffed crust pizza. With any luck the character will keep his pathological arrogance but apply it in way that is genuinely compelling and menacing.

Oh, and the "Kneel before Zod!" line wouldn't go amiss either.

My wife is a huge Smallville fan, I am not, she is also not American. I still hear her complain about the casting of this movie almost daily. She (my Indonesian wife) is none too happy that they didn't cast an American actor for this part. I could care less because of how good Bale has done with Batman.

To be fair, Brandon Ruth could have been a good Superman, if he had a half way decent script.
