Silly question but did you load your monitor drivers? Now, it shouldn't need them but I loaded mine.

I notice it doesn't list any info for your monitor in CoHelper.

Monitor:
Monitor's Max Resolution:
(blank)

What kind of monitor do you have and how is it connected to your PC? I would assume is DVI-D. Did you check the monitor's manufacturer and check for drivers?

Mine says this.

Monitor: Dell U2410(Digital)
Monitor's Max Resolution: 1920,1200

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster

I tried installing the drivers provided by Samsung, and booted up CoH, and it still hung up without me going to Safe Mode. It's connected through a standard VGA port.

If you haven't changed the size of your icons yourself then they are likely just fine. But just in case it's

control panel>appearance>display

From there there are three check boxes 100% 125% and 150%.

By standard vga port I'm guessing you mean the standard connector on your video card and monitor, not some sort of adapter.

I'm running out of ideas here. Try switching from full screen mode to windowed mode.

Thank you for helping me this far, Mandu. I tried switching to windowed mode, but anytime I try to switch to anything from the dropdown menu, it requires me to restart. And I cannot start in anything but Safe Mode, so that doesn't seem to be working.

I'm really hoping to hear back from Tex to find out more about what might be going on. Would it be worth it to contact NCSOFT support? Get someone on the phone to help me troubleshoot things?

So, what happens when you change resolution or enable windowed mode, quit the game, disable safe mode and start the game?

Uninstall this.
While the system TeaTimer SOUNDS like a good idea. But it's stopping and/or asking for changes to be effected. This could be interfering with the game.

See if you can kill iTunes and it's accompanying programs. While it should NOT directly affect the game, I've seen iTunes destabilize otherwise perfectly fine systems before.

Try Killing the Orb programs. It's possible this media program is interfering with the game's ability to control the video drivers.

I tried this, and it still hangs up at the "Loading..." screen. Goes no further.

Here's what I did: I logged in to the game in safe mode, pulled up the options menu, used the dropdown menu to select the "Desktop", quit the game, and started it back up. As I type this, it's been three minutes and it's still sitting there at the "Loading..." screen.

Could it have something to do with my monitor? Someone was asking earlier about whether I had it plugged in to my video card through an adapter... it's plugged in to one, now that I check. It's a standard VGA plugged into my nVidia Geforce GTX 260 via an adapter that has two rows of plugs, with a flat piece off to the side (which has 4 plugs around it). Sorry, I'm not much of one for knowing adapters and the likes. Could this have anything to do with it? I hope not, I'd really not like to have to give up this nice monitor.

Hyper, that's how Chrome handles multiple tabs, each is an independent program so if a plugin crashes in one, the rest of the tabs stay up.

What kind of samsung is it? It should support DVI.

I don't think its the monitor connection....have you tried to uninstall and reinstall of CoH?

How do you feel about a clean windows install?

It sounds like a standard DVI to VGA adapter plug. These usually aren't an issue.

This should have nothing to do with your monitor. The Unigine Heaven demo ran fine with this monitor, right?

So, when you start the game in safe-mode, it comes up 800x600 in a window? Can you bump up the graphics settings and resize the window (not through the game's graphics settings, but just grabbing the corner of the window and making it bigger/smaller)?

Yes, it comes up 800x600, but not in a "window". It just goes up to full screen like "normal".

I can't make it "windowed" to get it to that point where I could drag the window and make it larger. It re-sizes everything, not just CoH, to 800x600. When I ALT-TAB out to my browser window, it is at 800x600. Does that make sense? Or is it what you were asking?

I am running into this problem as well now. I've tried everything suggested in this thread to no avail.... even did a fresh install just now and can still only launch the game in safe mode. I suppose the next thing to try is a rollback of my nvidia drivers but I'm just not feeling like doing this for just one game. Maybe it's time for a break for a few months and I'll come back later to see if it's sorted itself out by then.

I really hate to necro a post but on the computer I am on for whatever reason launched the game in safe mode, how do I get out of it?

Unless you're having an issue based on your computer settings (resolution, etc), then right click the game in the launcher and choose properties. There's a spot to check (on/off) Safe Mode.
