Ion is seriously bugged when its applied to Masterminds

Ion needs total nerfing in PvP. When aim at Masterminds or Controllers or Dominators with pets the Ion seems to rechain several times and also rechains to all surrounding players to those with henchmen or pets. I got hit 21 times with blast 3. I dont have the data for blast 1, blast 2, or blast 4 but something needs to be done about Ion in PvP.
Ion does around 2000-9000 points of damage. Yet I have provided you the data several times it seem that the you guys have not figured out this bug.

That's 6577.17 damage. I don't know pvp and I'm not an expert on how damage is reported while using "bodyguard" mode, but that looks like a lot.

I am even surprised that you can use Incarnate abilities in PvP? Wow... surprising.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Today playing my dom I got killed with one application of Ion, the bug still rechains bad. It seems to be bugged when you are surrounded by NPCs minions and leuts as well has henchmen and pets.

Kind've wondering why folks are concerned about whether he died or not. MM in BG mode can take upwards of 5000 damage (without set IOs and powers that take it higher). He never says he survived the first post's attack. The second run he specifically states he died from the attack.

That is quite a bug.

It's not a bug at all.

What's bugging me about this poster is that he's asking for a wholesale change in both PvE and PvP to a power that's supposed to work as it is working, and has every single time he's come onto the boards of late.

There's no way to change the basic chaining behavior for JUST PvP, but that's what he wants, rather than suggesting that maybe PvP damage *only* should be reduced.

Seriously people like you want the "One Click I Win Button So Bad." There are plenty of other games that are out there that offer no challenge, but I guess you want this to be one of them.

Seems to me that would be a bug considering that Ion was just nerfed for that exact kind of behavior in PvE.

The history of the changes is this: The chance to "bounce" back to the same target was reduced.
It was not ELIMINATED. He wants it ELIMINATED when clearly from the last change the developers see that the chance to "bounce back" is inherent to and part of the power design.
In addition, this is a very basic power behavior. It cannot be removed in PvP and still exist in PvE. So whether he believes this or not, he's calling for an overall nerf to the power.
I do not care about PvP. I am of the very strong opinion that no MMORPG needs it, and that removing PvP from a game or not having PvP in the first place is an overall improvement in game design. What I care about is when people whining about PvP force nerfs and changes to a power as it is used in PvE, solely because they only care about the PvP effects.

Not necessarily true... as I understand it all powers have a completely separate power effects list for PvP, so in theory it could do something completely different in PvP, like being a targeted AoE instead of a chain (or for that matter summoning a noncombat pet that walks around telling off-color jokes). I don't believe what a power does in PvE has anything whatsoever to do with what it does in PvP beyond both of them using the same animation (and I'm not 100% sure the animation has to be the same).

So it should be trivial to set Ion Judgement powers to not be able to chain to the same target twice at all in PvP (just set the immunity timer to longer than the chain can continue) while not affecting its PvE stats at all. That said, it may be a matter of not wanting to spend the resources to do it (the actual fix would be a simple spreadsheet edit, but it would still need full QA testing) just to satisfy the couple of dozen people who still actually use PvP for anything but farming rare IOs.
