NCSoft Launcher Issues
I dont' get it. Why is your computer sending to the loopback address to try to connect to the patch server? It shouldn't be doing that.
Can you download http://launcher.patcher.ncsoft.com/N...entVersion.xml via a browser?
Are you using any internet security software that does host blacklisting? Are you using one of those idiotic Hosts file-based ad/malware blocking "tools"? Because it looks like something is redirecting ncsoft.com (or one of its sub-domains) to localhost (i.e. your own machine).

Great, happened earlier than expected. Now, when I click to play City of Heroes, the 'Launching City of Heroes' mini window pops up, goes from 0% to 100%, disappears and...just pops up over and over again, the progress bar filling to 100% quickly, closing, and then opening again, ad nauseum. Something is really screwed up here.
And Spad, I have no idea how to download anything from that link. Just takes me to a pretty blank page with xml tags on it. I'm not really tech savvy, so if theres something else I'm supposed to do besides clicking the link, you'll have to enlighten me. And the only malware program I have that I use is Malwarebytes. If I did my research right, a Hosts malware blocking tool would be proactive, whereas what I'm using is reactive. If thats what you mean, no, I don't use any other tools that would be blocking anything.
I already tried uninstalling the NCSoft launcher and reinstalling and that didn't do a dang thing. I haven't made any changes to my computer in the past few days. I played before I made a small road trip, and everything worked fine. I come back and now everything is screwed up. Thanks for the replies, hopefully someone can figure this out.

Gah, fixed it! Guess it was a remnant from one of those anti-virus viruses I got. LAN Settings on my Internet Properties had the Proxy Server box checked. Which is strange, because whenever that happened before, ALL my internet was blocked, not just certain applications like that. That's why I didn't suspect that this time around. Unchecked it, and the launcher is running fine now. Sorry for wasting everyone's time. That was certainly frustrating.

Ok, i am now getting this error, as is my GF.
About an hour ago i tried to log in and got the message "the game client was unable to connect to the login server."
So got the GF to try at her place, and she got the same thing. Tried a couple of time since and still got the same.
Then 10 mins or so ago she tries again and get's an error in the launcher "Unable to contact game patch server.
Please check your internet connection or try again later.
If you want to skip the update step, force a launch using the right-click menu on the game list or main button.

I tried and got the same thing.
The game start when clicking force start, but still unable to login to the game.
Then it's time for them to get off the cross, use the wood to build a bridge, and get over it.

Hello, all.
I am getting this also.
I have tried running the Repair utility as well. It launches, runs the green bar about 1/4 the way across, and then the same error appears. Its almost as if the login server was down.
I see that the game servers are in an unknown state right now too. I'll check anouncements next, but not quite sure what is going on here.
Any ideas?

Just got this problem on LIVE. What's the solution.

OK.
When the error message comes up, you can click on the left button "Force Launch". The CoH game will go through its normal start routine with the green load bar, and the login window for the game appears.
However, after you enter your password and click login it just hangs. After about a minute, you get the error message telling you the game can't connect to the login server. So, the game is down and not accessable right now.
I just wish the error message at the NC-Soft launch window would say that. That pop-up error window is something I have never seen, and its a bit confusing.

Just posted in the other thread as I was having the same issue. Now it seems there is a patch available for me to update to.
same things happening to me, it was fine before maintenance, then i try afterwards, and i get exactly the same thing

seems to be patching now, as i right clicked the city of heroes icon in the side menu, and 'checked for updates' seems to be working now
Had the same issue.. try this, open the launcher, click on the upside down triangle next to Cit of heroes. You should have a list that drops down. Click on repair. See if that works.

I tried repairing and it led me back to the same message. I exited and restarted the launcher the second time (the first time there were no changes) and I was able to download the patch. I just launched, and am able to load everything normally.
Ok, this just started today, worked just fine a couple of days ago. First I get this:


Then, when I click Skip, the window opens up but it still says something is wrong. Then when I click to play City of Heroes, this pops up:
Now, I can click Force Launch and I can play the game fine, but I have a feeling that as soon as there is an update to the game, I'm not gonna be able to play. Rest of my internet works fine. It also allowed me to look at a log which said this (feel free to laugh at my computer name; I was excited to be getting a powerful computer :P):
