FEEBACK: Steampunk Steam Jump
And it seems... I have to test some more... if you use both at the same time, they stack in duration... one of them will last for 60 seconds.
|
Turning one of these jump powers on (GvE Jump Pack or Steam Jump) while the other is already on will simply add 30 seconds to the duration of the one you turned on first.
I consider that an excellent feature, not a bug.
If you have both you can hit GvE and then Steam Jump. Then one minute after GvE was turned on and is expiring, Steam Jump is ready to add another 30 seconds.
Excellent.

Suggestion:
Make Steam Jump available from Level 1 like the GvE JumpPack is. |
Also, what's with the hidden bit in your post?

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
That would be nice, but then people would be asking that Ninja and Beast Run be changed to available at Level 1, too. Not that I'd mind that change.

Jump Pack and Steam Jump are analogues of each other but don't start at the same level.
I'm guessing someone in Powers, in order to determine when Steam Jump should be available looked at the Runs to make them 'the same' when, in fact, they should have looked at the Jump.
at the bottom of the post for a clean margin.
Also, three little i's go unnoticed
and it's a way to avoid the ALL CAP filter, too.

I also have my own way around the ALL CAP filter. :]
Also, I used a modified version of your Villain Skin, so I can still see that something is there, but only when it's a lot, like this, and grabs my attention. Otherwise, I notice it when I quote... >.>

I personally have no issue with the way Steam Jump was implemented. If it were made avail at lvl 1 like the GvE jump pack then they would have needed to increase the recharge time to match the jump pack. The 30 sec cool down makes it more beneficial then the Jump pack... not to mention it has a greater horizontal movement then the GvE pack.
Now, I have "played" with it, but in no means "stress tested" the thing... for a quicky/quirky travel power (in a pinch) it works well. Good on ya devs.

*yeah, I quoted myself.
They always ask. They always ask...
The color is halfway between the color of the two skins, so, it should be nearly, but not quite, invisible to both. |
Would like this ability to be either perma or an option for the backpack to be made available.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
I bugged this in the Test Server, but I'll post it here as well.
I watched the Combat numbers as I turned on and off the Steam Jump. According to the info, it's supposed to grant a +fly speed bonus, but there wasn't anything added to my total. Only the jump height bonus was added, and visible in the numbers.
I wasn't on a character that has flight, so I don't know if that makes a difference, but the other IO bonuses I have for +fly show up.
Can anyone verify that they're flying faster with the pack active? I know it's easy to hit the flight speed cap, so it would be easier to see on a low, unenhanced character.
If it does indeed give +fly, the combat numbers should be reporting it. If it doesn't give +fly, either they fix it so it does, or remove that part from the description. Personally, I find it odd that it would grant +fly to begin with, since it's Steam JUMP.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
I am showing +fly as well as +jump height.. In Fly, I am going from +19.69 mph to 45.84 but thats for BOTH GVE and Steam Jump.. which is odd considering that neither causes any change in Jumping speed, only max height.
I just bought the Steampunk Pack mainly for the Steam Jump power, and now that I've used it I feel pretty misled. I was under the impression that Steam Jump was a travel power the likes of Ninja Run or Beast Run, but instead it's just a slightly better version of the Good vs. Evil Jet Pack. I was thinking it would be a poor man's Super Jump, sort of like a Ninja Run that was all jump and no run. I'm extremely disappointed.
How could you make it a poor man's superjump? A slower jump speed and altitude, I suppose, but then ninja run would just plain outclass it.
I'd say a 30 second cooldown makes it a poor man's superjump as is. Plus, I like it as is for getting up buildings that are too high for ninja run - or even superjump.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."

Having just tested it with a stopwatch as well as with the in game numbers active Steam Jump does not slow you down horizontally.
Can't speak to the rest, but to your main complaint I can say 'wish granted'.

Eh, heck with it. Maybe I should just buy Rocket Board and see what that's like.
Stats:
Steam Jump and the GvE have these same stats:
They differ:
And it seems... I have to test some more... if you use both at the same time, they stack in duration... one of them will last for 60 seconds.
Stacking them does not stack jump or fly speeds, though. But it will max out jump height.
If you have both, you can go: SteamJump > GvEJump > SteamJump for a full 90 seconds of the jump boost.
Hasten alone will have SteamJump back up in 20 seconds.
Suggestion:
Make Steam Jump available from Level 1 like the GvE JumpPack is.
